Other Stablehands

Beside Joost and Tinka, there are of course a slew of other stablehands. Some work only during the week and other over the weekend. For some it is a job after school and others are there full time.
There are young people from all strokes of life and some older ones too. They all get along very well and always have a blast at the stables. Once they put their mind to it they organise a lot of fun events and when there is a special occasion at the stables, some will cook and others will arrange drinks and it all goes without squabbling.

A good portion of the stablehands have their own horse. They get a portion of their day to take care of their own horse, but training has to be done in their own time.

Ukkie - Falabella Gelding

Ukkie is a very misschievous but sweet and sociable Falabella gelding. He loves to play and is taught to compete in all sort of games. He can tug a rope, play tag, hide and seek and several ball games. He is very eager to play with the stablehands and children. He is very energetic and likes playing pranks.
He is not afraid of bigger horses and is very good at making friends. He doesn't let the bigger horses walks over him or the shetlanders bully him. His best friends are Wyatt, Rakker and Bran.
With the mare Roosje, Ukkie has one foal. It is a filly named Marlene. Both parents are very fond of her.


Ukkie is a member of the Sarnori Mountain Clan. He is very cheerful and always up to some sort of misschief. He is loyal and friendly, but tends to take the micky out of other horses. He has a lot of energy and is quite the buckaroo.
He has many friends in the herd and is a social butterfly, even talking to horses from other herds and the other animals that travel the valley. His best friends are Wyatt, Rakker and Bran.
He is mated to Rosie Cotton with Ribbons in her Hair and with her he has one daughter. The filly is called Marlene. Ukkie also has a sister by law, Diamond of Long Cleeve. He is uncle to Fulla.

Ura - Saint Bernard Dog

Uru is Mr van Ginkel’s loyal Saint Bernard. She is gentle and slow. She spends most of her day laying on her pillow in the house. But, when Mr. van Ginkel brings her to the park, she will run and play just like the best of them.
Ura has had one nest of pup, among whom Pep.


Ura lives with Man beyond the Fog. She is a very lazy dog. She spends her time sleeping by the fire. She dreams of green pastures and gentle women petting her.
With an unnamed male dog, she has had a nest of pups, of whom pep is one.

Urban - Boxer Pup

Urban is Jimmy’s new Boxer pup. Jimmy sometimes takes Urban to the stables. Urban loves to play with the other pups. Especially Kenny and Pep are his friends.
Urban’s parents are local as well, they sometimes run into each other on walkies. Their names are Amber and Kosta.


Urban lives with Man beyond the Fog. He is bred and being trained to protect Man’s young. His breed is known as very gently with younglings and this way Man can leave their weened young unattended so they can do work.
Urban is very playful, but plays carefully. Man’s young really loves him.

Uriel - Mustang Stallion

Uriel is a very high strung and energetic Mustang Stallion. He can be very wild, if he is not exercised the right way. He is quite bucky onder the saddle and needs a strong hand to keep him in check.
Uriel is rather dominant and not very sociable. The only other horse the really tollerates is Viserys, he brother.
When he was three years old, Uriel, along with his brother Viserys exported from the USA to the Netherlands for breeding purpose. Soon he mated with Emma and she gave birth to colt Henry.


Uriel is a fierce warrior stallion form the Wild Herd, under the lead of Tyr and Ares. He is very well respected in the herd and is known to be a brave fighter, defending the weaker members of the herd when he needs to.
His best friends are Randy and Viserys. They often train together and patrol the area around the herd.
Uriel has a colt, named Henry, with the mare Emma. They are not mated and Uriel barely looks at Emma or Henry twice.

Ursus is a very old and huge bear, living in a cave in the dragon mountains. He has been living so long that he has begun to take on the properties of the cave. He is the hero of Earth and instrumental in saving our valley.
But Ursus is very insociable and does not tolerate anyone near his cave. He chases away anyone who comes too close, so there is no communicating with him.

Ustin is a rather shy Percheron foal. He is already at the right to be weened, but he is very attached to his mother. He is perfectly fine eating solid foods already. But doing too long without his mommah, oh heavens no, he will whinney and whinney until she comes to him.
He is not very fond of rough play and when he is in the meadow with other foals, his playmates are often Teddy and Spirit.
His parents are Kadans and Jolie.


Ustin is a junior member of the Pendragon herd. He is a very shy colt, who stays by his mother. He is actually old enough to be weened, but his mother is very reluctant to do so. She is often criticized for this.
Ustin is befriended with Teddy and Spirit. The other foals are often too rough for his taste.
His parents are Kadan and Jolie.

Draught Horses

The stables have a lot of draughters. Most of them belong to Mr. von den Perenbaum. He is very proud of his draughters and all of them are of special breeding stock. They are all very well trained and most of them can be hired or are used for lessons.

The draught breeds the stables keep are: Shires, Clydesdales, Tinkers, Friesians, Percherons and Black Forest Horses.

When there are festivities in town, the draughters get groomed and all dressed up to pull carriages or take children around for small rides.
The Draughters are also used as therapy horses, but you can read about that next month.

Uzumai - African Elephant Cow

Uzumai is one of the largest wanderers of the plains. She is a gentle giant, though and friendly to everyone she comes across. She is usually in the company of her mate and calves.
She is mated for Tantor and together they have three calves named Misha, Pasha and Whispers.

Val is a very pretty and charming Tinker Mare. She is young and still in training. She was bought by Mr. von den Perenbaum to be a specialised therapy horse. Tinka and Joost work with her to respond to specific vocal and visual queues and to stay calm under any circumstances. She is also being saddle trained under specific saddles that are for handicapped children.
Val is gentle and sociable. She is a bit of a mothering mare. When there is a cat or a chicken in her stablebox, she will lay down with it and sort of cuddle with it. In the meadow she spends a lot of time grooming other mares of the weened foals. Her vastest friends are Amelia and Daphne.
There are plans to have her covered by BlackIce.


Val is a member of the Pendragon Herd. She is a younger mare, with a lot of friends and a very kind heart. She loves to be with her friends, gossiping and grooming together. She also likes looking after foals and cannot wait to have one of her own.
She was only recently mated to BlackIce. They have not yet conceived. Val is praying to Alma to bless her with a foal, but one can never be too sure.

Valkyri - Pinto Mare

Valkyri is a strong, young Pinto mare. With five years, she is mostly still being trained, but very experienced riders can pay to ride her in the arena. She is wild and eager to learn at the same time, so she needs a firm hand. Tinka and Joost train her in natural horsemanship as well, which she enjoys a lot.
Valkyri is sociable but dominant. Not every other horse handles that well. She gets along best with Nuala, Emma and Cersei.
With the stallion Tyr, Valkyri has a colt named Kian. She has one sister named Jessica.


Valkyri is the lead mare of the Wild Herd. She is leader Tyr’s mate. She is very confident and dominant. She can come of as brash and overtly direct, but she is always has the best interest of the herd in her mind. She is in charge of the daily grind of the herd and she is very good at it.
She is sociable, but selective with those she lets close to her. Her friends are Nuala, Cersei and Pride Skyrra. She is also very close to Emma, but has taken her distance since she has been seen with Killian.
With mate Tyr, Valkyri has one colt named Kian. She has a sister called Jessica.

Vallar - Dartmoor Colt

Vallar, also called Vally, is Jeyne’s sweet young colt. He was born soon after Jeyne was brought to the stables. He is still very young and stays constantly by his mother. He is very shy to bigger horses and tends to hide behind his mother when the stablehands are around. He can likely feel that some of them make his mother rather nervous.
In the meadow he stays close by his mother. Some of the other foals find him very interesting, but he has yet to open up. He is beginning to warm up to Ravenzwart, Teddy and Noel.
DNA tests have pointed out that Hannibal is Vallar’s father.


Vallar is a newborn member of the Sarnori Mountain clan. He is very young and stays only by his mother’s side. And when his mother is away for a brief moment, Vallar will press himself against his father. He is not yet sociable and the other foals scare him a bit.
His parents are Jeyne and Hannibal. He has no siblings.

Valyria - Royal Unicorn Mare

Valyria is a member of the Royal Unicorn herd. This herd of unicorns is very shy of the Fae and they do not know a great many things about these unicorns. But to the horses they are a little more open, so I have some knowledge of them.
Valyria is generally very friendly and very sociable. She has a lot of friends among the other unicorns and even some pegasi she likes to chatter with. Between Rosemary and herself there are six colts. It is not sure who exactly belong to which mare. We do know, however that Calydor is their father.
Valyria has one sister, Rosemary. She is mated to Calydor, along with Yoru, Primrose, Thistle and her sister Rosemary.

Vand is a young Ichtiosaurus that lives in the dark waters of the Backlands. He is not known by the Fae, but Meraxes tells the Merpeople of him. He tells of how Vand calmly floats about and poses no threat, not in the least. Meraxes might approach him, when he is larger to find out more about his breed.

Boarding Horses

The boarded horses are mainly sports horses. There are no ponies and only a handful draughters boarded at the stables. Not that they are not welcome, it just doesn’t really happen.
Most of the boarded horses come out in competitions and are worth a lot of money. So the stablehands are usually pressed to be very careful with them.

Not all boarded horses have a close to their owners. Some owners only come to train or take their horses to competitions. This leads the horses to bond more to the stablehands. And as much as the stablehands try not to let the horses get attached to them, it does tend to happen.
But there are also boarded horses whose owners are at the stables whenever they can. They help out when they can and are very close to the stablehands. These horses are by far the most happy and healthy of the boarded horses.

El Cid - Arabian Gelding

El Cid is a surprisingly gentle and patient Arab gelding. He is a therapy horse, who is available for handicapped people to ride on. He has a specialised saddle and very comfortable gaze. He is very sweet as well and loves meeting new people. This makes him especially well suited for physically handicapped youths.
El Cid is classically trained and continues to be trained in natural horsemanship. He reacts very well to verbal and visual queue’s.
With the mare Padme, El Cid has one colt named Kylo.


El Cid lives with Man beyond the Fog. He is a running horse that is used to travel quickly. Beside that he is a breeding stud, so his runner gene's can be passed on and the foals sold. He is well treated by Man because they vallue him a lot.
He is mated to Padme and has with her a colt named Kylo. He is goodbrother to Isis, Lalita and Anck-su-Namun and uncle to Zayn, Baelfire and David.

Vanessa - Hanoverian Mare

Vanessa is an elderly Hanoverian mare. She is gentle and sweet and is almost all the way entired. She is almost all the way retired, but is allowed to go out to the forest for an hour each day. Even inexperienced riders are allowed to take her out, as long as they keep to the hour.
Vanessa is sociable to other horses, but prefers to take it easy, so the more energetic horses are not really her friends. She gets along best with calmer horses, so is mostly put in the meadow with other elder horses and the draughters.
With a donor stallion, she has a colt named Nerv. She also has a twin sister named Annika


Vanessa lives with man beyond the fog. She is a retired carriage horse. She is old and her limbs are sore, but the Man she lives with takes good care of her. She is allowed to graze in the meadow all day and is kept in the stable at night and with bad weather.

Vanilli - Icelandic Colt

Vanilli is a very sweet and strong willed Icelandic colt. He is sociable and very energetic and sometimes gives the stablehands a hard time. He is keen to learn, but once he knows how to do something, he quickly bores of it, so the stablehands have to keep his training challenging.
Vanilli is a socibale filly and has many friends he loves to play with in the meadow. He does play rather rough, so not all foals are suited to be her playmates. His best friend is Jonathan, the two are almost inseperable.
Vanilli's mother is Dacey and his father Echozan. He has no siblings.


Vanilli is a junior member of the Sarnori Mountain clan. He is young but already rather independant and he has no qualms straying away from his mother, from the herd. He loves to explore, especially when it is with his friends. Her best friend is Jonathan, but she gets along very well with Jace, Niall, Vindur, Grewyn, Malia, Milli and Pegerin as well.
Vanilli's mother is Dacey and his father Echozan. He has no siblings. He has two uncles, Rydag and Brandon. He has two aunts as well, Myrcella and Arianna. This makes him cousin to Milli and Vindur.

Vaurin - Connomara Yearling Stallion

Vaurin is a strong willed and clever Connomara stallion of a one year old. The stablehands tends to describe him as sly, but like him a lot, because he is very eager to learn. They have started to train him in natural horsemanship. He is very happy to train and learns very quickly.
He is also very sociable. In the meadow he sometimes does tend a little rough, but gets along with many other of the foals. His best friends are Eomer and Rambo.
His mother is the mare Claire, but it is not known who his father is.


Vaurin is a member of the Sarnori Mountain Clan. He is a yearling stallion and of the age that he can get away with mischief, but not with foalish behaviour. He is mostly racing with his friends and being an energetic buckaroo. His best friends are Jace and Adam.
His mother is the mare Claire and his father is named Cadia.

Venco - Quarter Horse Gelding

Venco is a three and a half year old Quarter Horse gelding. He is being trained to become a horse suitable for riding lessons. He is Tinka’s personal project, so to say. Mr. von den Perenbaum has put her in charge of his training and his care.
Venco is already saddlebroken, but he is now first being trained in basic disciplines as well as natural horsemanship. He is very eager to learn, but he also likes goofing off a lot, so Tinka has to be strict from time to time.
He is very sociable to other horses. He gets along with foals as well as older horses. His main meadow friends are Toto and Fahride.
Venco’s sire is Inkheart and his dam Nuala. He has a little sister named Penelope.


Venco is a youthful member of the Wild Herd. He has only just come of age. He has still a very juvenile energy about him. He still loves playing pranks and romping around. He is not worried about finding a mate just yet.
He has not many horses of his own age in the herd, so he mostly associated with the younger horses, mainly Eomer, Cloud and Zidane.
His parents are Inkheart and Nuala. He has one sister named Penelope. His uncles are Dickon, Dustfinger, Gale, Prince Charming, Randyl and Tamaris. His aunts are Anna, Leonette and Athena. He has two younger nieces named Muis and Gilly.

Ventus is a very beautiful pegasus colt. He is very soft spoken and the shyest of the pegasus foals. He is often seen in the sky and meadows playing with his friends. But he stays away from the fae and the herds of horses. He always keeps in eyeshot of his mother when he is on the ground.
His sire is Skye and his dam Brisa. He has one younger sister, named Xion.

Vera -  Texas Longhorn Cow

Texas Longhorn Cow Vera, is Texan born as was gifted to Mr. Perenbaum by a vast friend of his from the US. She is quite calm, but prefers to just be in the meadow with the other cows. The stable sometimes is a bit too cramped for her and her beautiful big horns.
She is very sociable to the other cows, being close befriended with Pae, Fille and Anthenodora. With them she spends her time in the meadow, grazing and lazing. She is also very calm around the stablehands, which groom her regularly.
With the bull Maximilion, she has one calf. The young female is named Dorothy.


Vera lives with Man beyond the Fog. Her type of cattle make excellent beasts of burden. She is a brood cow and spends most of her time in the meadow with the dairy and meat cattle. She lives a calm life, spending her time grazing and sunbathing.

Horses for Lessons

The horses for the lessons are all specifically selected. Every experience class has their own selection.
Beginners get horses that are easy to handle for both instructor and rider and that teach a rider how to correctly sit and handle a horse. Horses for medium experienced riders are usually trained a little bit in every discipline so riders can try their hand at all of it. The horses for the experienced riders are usually a bit hotter under the saddle and give a rider more experience in correctly handling a horse.

All horses for the lessons are trained to respond to the Instructor’s vocal commands in case of emergency. These are specific commands the instructor does not usually use in lessons. This is to make sure that if something goes wrong, the safety of both rider and horse are secure.
The horses for lessons are all trained to ride bitless and riding crops and spurrs are not allowed. They are most accustomed to react to weight pressure and gentle nudges of the reigns or heels.

Armani - Mustang Stallion

When he was a yearling old, Armani, along with his brother Stavan exported from the USA to the Netherlands for breeding purpose. He is now three years and ready for training and soon his first covering.
Armani is a fully domesticated mustang Stallion. He is hardly related to the wild herds that still graze the plains in America. But all the same he is a showy and headstrong stallion. He is very proclive in Western Disciplines. Experienced riders can take him into the arena. Licensed riders can also take him into the woods.
Armani is very sociable, but tends to be a bit dominant. His greatest friends are Randyl, Ranec and Mordred.

Belch is officially Marisè’s French Bully, but prefers the twins to her. They gave him his name and love to play with him. He is a quite a lazy and happy dog, loving attention, preferring to stay by the space heater in the canteen or in the house. He is not very sociable to other dogs. He has one brother, Bowers, who also lives with the family.


Belch lives with Man beyond the Fog. The Man that own him are very rich and keeps her as a lap dog and spoil him rotten.
He is unmated, but has one brother named Bowers.
