Attention Collectors - Unnoficial copied Models sold officialy as CollectA

Dear Collector's

It has finally happened - a Chinese manufacturer has started to copy many models produced by CollectA. Not only is this this a shame for CollectA it means inferior quality products may be distributed and sold to consumer's whilst being labelled as official products. If anyone comes across any such items then please post photos online and let us know.

If you happen to come across a retailer or online seller selling odd looking models or CollectA models at a really unusually low price then do double check with your local distributor in your country (details can be found on the Collecta.biz webpage).

We want to stop others copying CollectA products and putting our hard work, energy and creativity at risk.

Please keep an eye out and report anything strange or unusual.

Why can`t they just make their own models ?

Numaan, this is a sign that CollectA is growing! I've heard about a new CollectA distributor in Portugal recently, curiously I tried to check this info with the Portuguese CollectA distributors I know and they told me that they didn't know anything and that they will keep distributing the brand. ...so I need to investigate.
Although it is obviously a reprovable thing, as a collector I am curious to see how these copies look like!

Thanks for your support folks. In a way it is a sign that the brand is growing and coming to the attention of 'sharks' out there. We already know Schleich have been copied on many occasions.

The worrying concern is any dodgy new supplier or retailer selling CollectA knock-offs knowingly or unknowingly. The last thing we need is anything jeopardising our winning streak with CollectA who listen to the fans.

I have not seen any photos myself but I suspect your photos are indeed some of the ones to keep an eye out for.  You can already see the poor quality of the models!  Thanks for posting.

THe Lexsovisaurus was released with white plates, but it was later repainted with Black plates

There's supposed to be 36 in the set of dinosaurs but I've seen closer to 40. They're easy to distinguish as they are huge in comparison to the original figures. They're hollow with a central joint and made out of a good quality acrylic type plastic. Whether you like them or not is a matter of taste. A lot look gawky because the original figures are gawky and the effect is magnified 8 fold but some are quite nice. The Tylosaurus is really good, an improvement in fact! I have about 9 of these but it was really tough getting them out of China as they really don't want to sell them outside of the country. Most have the manufacturers details hot knifed off but retain the CE mark. I have one with the manufacturers details which reveal them to have been made for an Italian company. I'm told that they're discontinued (some are certainly thin on the ground as I can't get all of the figures I wanted) and it kinda looks as though the manufacturer got burned in this case. There's also a set of wild animals but I haven't paid enough attention to comment on those. 

Here are some of the Collecta copies in my collection. I do have a lot of Collecta figures but am unable to picture them for comparison as they are currently packed away whilst I redecorate. Suffice to say, these are huge figures compared to the originals, almost sand box versions if you like.
