CollectA 2014: WILDLIFE - Pygmy Hippopotamus Female (88686)

So I am really proud that CollectA agreed to making a Pygmy Hippo instead of a revised standard hippo.  We have long wanted this particular species which is also very much endangered and so this adult and baby have been created instead of a common hippo remake.

To those who want to see female animals - well here she is, the wonderful mother foraging for food.  There is no male planned as of yet.  Let's see how successful this model is.  In my opinion children get to learn about another type of hippo whilst collectors are able to enjoy a new species never before made by anyone else.

Numaan, I agree completely with you. Children should get used with different species even they look not very atractive like pygmy hippos. The fact of this creature could look strange to kids, like a bad hippo, even turns more relevant this work. I always thought a modern brand would never make it and I'm glad CollectA did. The animal is perfectly recognizable and my doubts about paws doesn't move me a milimetter from wanting it.

I was amazed today to log on to the forum and see so many announcements from CollectA. Wow. This is just fantastic. As wonderful as other companies are, CollectA is, in my estimation, putting out the most desirable new models. Amazing.

The size of this model has been created to match the size of the CollectA Baird's Tapir so that when stood next to other common hippo models one can see a difference between the sizes. However with Schleich's latest hippo having shrunk in size they will almost be the same size! One of the rear legs will be repositioned slightly so that it looks like the animal has just stopped for a second whilst walking.

LOVE IT, again fantastic choice to make.
