Mojö fun 2014 - Komodo dragon 387166

Hello friends,
I have the pleasure to present that new Mojo 2014 model (only 4 wildlife to finish)!
For all of those who tried to answer Roger's guests in Mojo Fun 2014? I must say that 2 members guessed the specie for "a relatively common animal among major brands that only CollectA hasn't released yet".
The model is in a standing pose, so seems it's ready to walk, different from another models with the belly on the ground. Enjoy!

Very cool! Not sure I'm fond of the color, but the sculpt is great!

A very un-traditional model, but having google'd lots of photoes of live ones, I can see that some of them actually do stand like this, and do have black legs and face , - in other words : A model that teaches me ( us?) something new about an animal which I thought was extremely well known    

The model in the catalogue-picture looks a bit stiff, but the one in the last photo is great !!!

Perhaps the black areas ( esp the legs ) are a bit too black ?

But certainly a model I will look forward to having in my colletion  

YES! Its a fantastic figure, probably the best I have seen. I love how the color is actually accurate, not to too gray of the Schleich one, and the green version from Papo. Great job Mojo, must have!

The first time I watched that figure I got impressed with the level of detail and how accurate it looks. Though, I also commented with James the unusual coloring. Suddenly I was charged with several pictures of dark legged komodo dragons, just like Susanne, I never noticed that before and actually, they are much more common and normal than white/grey Shires!
In fact, and although I would enjoy best a less contrasting version, I find it much more interesting now, mainly when comparing with green komodos like Papo or other strange colored ones. Something that I continue liking best in Papo version is the pose, I am not an enthusiast of straight poses, it works for this one and also for Colorata version.
But, seeing how detailed and accurate it looks to me, I believe I won't resist too long to have one in my collection as soon as I can get it. Another great point is that this figure as a very unique looking, completely different from all other versions we know.
There aren't many reptiles on Mojo range yet, I suppose soon Mojo will introduce a tortoise or a turtle, luckily the brand will find a species easily recognizable as a turtle or tortoise but, hopefully, something new for us.

I've been in komodo island.. 1 hour flight from my island..
And I think black legs and face because of mud.. :)

Those creatures have a vicious hunting strategy   Nice model!

Interesting, although you didn't know about it, your copy of mine is perfect!

A very different Komodo dragon than the older ones. The pose is a bit static but, again, very unusual and it is a good idea. I especially love the head

Taxidermy! Nice sculpt, and i really look forward repainting it   

It's a beautiful creature but the best is the old schleich one for me.   

Something new for me - even when I 'm not sure about the colours...now they seem really strange for me, even when I lokk at google pictures. But perhaps the fact that other brands already released dragons whit the normal green/brown-reptile-colours let this figure look strange for me
Anyway I'm waiting for more pictures, comparitions and when I know the size :)

definitely not,...curled tail,...too short body,..wrong colour,...Despite of the colour: Papo.

Ahh Ok but I don't know the real morphology of the tail. For me, it's the body ( without the head and the tail) tait looks a little better in schleich. However, it's true that this one is really nice but it will be not on my list. I'm a little bit disappointed with the new mojo figures for this year until now because 2013 was fabulous. In fact, there were a lot of animals that didn't exist in the different brands before like the honey badger, the entelodon and the gaur. I understand that they do again the same figures better to have some classic animals with a realistic morphology.   

Very nice I think! I would see it with a dark "dry brushed" paint on the top of scales so this texture would look more alive and scales drawing more clear and intensive.   
Also on the photos of dark coloured Komodo dragons I see they sometimes have darker top of scales then skin between. This make their coloration looking a bit like mosaic

Florian, of course that's you opinion that deserves all my respect, though, I hope Mojo or any other brand won't use Schleich komodo as reference. For me it is one of the worst replicas of this animal. It almost don't have body, it looks a concentration of scales and the toy looking beats clearly any kind of realism.  Mojo's sculpting is not comparable in my opinion. Though, I agree with Philipp, when a figure has good proportions and realistic sculpting, a straight pose makes it look somewhat like a taxidermy work and that's exactly what I don't appreciate very much in Mojo figure. My favorite is also Papo despite its color, but proportions are great and movement is superb.
