| Miss Jane: I'm really interested! I see what you mean, but since I don't know much about the genetics behind the colours of dogs in general I didn't go into any of that. I simply meant that that particular colour could be called 'red' as well as chocolate and is commonly referred to as such in the UK. I've never studied genetics and had no idea that the colour was known as 'chocolate' and that 'red' was something completely different. I've learnt something new now! But I have a feeling that chocolate border collies will always be red to me Please, explain more. I admit I had to Google a bit now to see what you meant that chocolate was a dilute form of black. I thought the dilute of black was 'blue', but I suspect I only had the very simple explanation! I'm with you on everything about BB, Bb, bb, I think. In border collies, anyway. That's about as far as my knowledge of colour genetics in dogs goes! How does ee come into the picture? Why is that colour called 'red'? Is there such a thing as EE? What are, genetically, cream, yellow, silver and almost white that you mentioned? What's the relationship between black and (true) red? Sorry, Susanne, for going slightly off topic. If you would like us to move this conversation somewhere else, please let us know! _________________ Matilda
