Britains' zebra repaint Empty
PostSubject: Britains' zebra repaint   Britains' zebra repaint EmptyThu Jan 22, 2015 9:51 pm

Hi
I had an old Britains' zebra with almost all pain scrubbed off so i decided to "repaint" it. It look's a little rough up close but from a normal viewing distance I'm quite pleased with the result.

I think no other collection could look more realistic than these Britains repainted as you did! Perfect scale and very good sculpts! Wonderful work! Very Happy
Which Britains zebra is that one? It is quite different from mine? scratch

Thanks for the kind words

Roger: I don't know exactly, I think it has the same # as the other zebra (1357), but maybe an earlier version?

You saved this nice Zebra!! cheers Very nicely done! Very Happy
Are you sure it is a Britains? In earlier years I've had quite some Britains just more the farm life stuff. Not sure about the wildlife creatures.

Shanti: well it says Britains on it and it looks similar to the zebra in the picture below, but I guess you can never be 100% it's not a copy.

It is surely a Britains zebra, I am not only identifying it. Somewhat different from lead version and completely different from mine. Though, it is marked Britains and it is surely this one you are showing in that catalogue picture. Do you know the year of the catalogue? 60's?
My version is more recent as you can see below, I have it in two colors so I thought I had two plastic versions, though now I see that I have two variations of 2nd version also known as Detail. One more Britains missing in my collection! Laughing

Thanks. No unfortunately it isn't mine, it's from a closed ebay-auction I found through a link elsewhere on this forum.

Well done on this zebra. I think it looks great close-up. I'm especially excited to see this zebra, because I have a small childhood herd of copies (two in red) I had set aside to repaint. It's encouraging to see the good results you had with this one.

Congratulation cheers This custom is absolutely stunning Applause

This is indeed a Britains 1357 zebra. It was the first version in plastic and was the direct son of the old Lead zebra. Wink
