| Ok, I`ll show my last photos...and last step 20. The Papo 2006 male tiger is finished :) I want to show you how I did the paws, so here are 2 photos of them : Paws from the front legs: And paws from the back legs: And this will be my last photo.. Here you can see, how I did the back legs and the tail. Check the difference, between the strips, from outside and inside of the legs .. : Sooo, ladies and gentlemen, with exactly 20 steps and 50 photos, my tutorial about, how I`m repainting a tiger, it`s finished! Ups..actually, if Susanne likes the model, she will finish my tutorial with some more photos from the whole model I called this guy : Tigreco ( like one artist El Greco ) :) So, earlier today, Tigreco packed his luggage and he began his journey to Denmark Let`s all of us, wish him luck, with safe and fast arrival :) Thank you all, for watching my tutorial. Thank you for your kind and warm comments :) I hope, that my totorial is helpfull for some of you...and I hope , that is not too detailed :) Your bulgarian friend Kosta _________________ KOSTA

| :) Thank you very much Mgarat, I realy appreciate your comment :) And I can`t wait to see your siberian tiger :) I forgot to say something... When I finished the paint job, I used acrylic varnish, to protect the paint. My choice is : Acrylic SATIN varnish. And the brand is : VALLEJO Our kind friend Anna, recommended me this brand..and I`m very happy with it :) I tried other brands before...and every time, my modles were sticky after that With this brand i don`t have problems at all :) I think, maybe the reason is, that VALLEJO make them varnish on water-based. Some of my latest repaints, I finished with VALLEJO - MATT varnish... but with MATT, the model doesn`t look so good. It look`s a bit undistinguished. With SATIN, the model look`s better. It gives it a nice, discreet shine Last thing, it is important how you use the varnish. I frizz the spray form 30 sm...I`m waitnig around 15 min to be dry...and I do this at least 3 times everywhere on the model So, yeah, it is a bit long and slow work....but, in Bulgaria we have one proverb : ``бързата работа - срам за майстора``, which means : ``rapid work - shame for the master`` ...and for shure, it is a faster work, then repainting _________________ KOSTA

| How did I miss this tutorial? This is a fantastic tutorial Kosta and I enjoyed every single picture and explanation of it! And some of your comments and of other members where very funny too! You displayed many secrets of the way you paint and I thank you for this! This Tiger is a true piece of art done with lots of craftsmanship and cleverness! A question from me, did you learn it by yourself or did you have a teacher? Art class? |

A question from me, did you learn it by yourself or did you have a teacher? Art class? Thank you very much, for all these nice and warm words Shanti I`m happy, that you saw step by step, my looong tutorial and you like it :) To answer to your question... Before 16 years I finished Art school ( 5 years, drawing, painting, sculpting...) So I have some experience...But to repaint models is something specific, diferent and new for me :) I started last wear, mostly repainting wild cats...and since then, I improved my technique, with trying diferent ways to do that :) So now , I`m on this level...and I hope, I`ll improved more :) ....and next step - sculpting my own models... Let`s see when.. ...By the way, I have the same question for you Shanti, ..where and how, did you lurn to make such a nice repaints ? :) _________________ KOSTA |

| Thank you Kosta for the nice explanation! :) This clears a lot in my head! It sounds like you are a true expert in art science! And your work surely shows it! I learned repainting just learning by doing (and failing!), studying how other people work, looking and searching for tutorials (there are just a few people who are willing to tell their "secrets") and just doing it. But I am really happy you actually like my repaints! |
