Schleich 2016 List of Releases With Pictures!

Ok i can barely accept this as a Baryonx, it looks nothing like one at all. It snout is too short, and it lacks fish hook claws. This is got to be a mistake on someones part because If they really release this as a Baryonx then i will lose a lot of respect for this company.

I contacted a couple people to see if this is really what there saying it is. (I even posted the photo on Schelichs Facebook to see if they evean know what it is)

I AM VERY EXCITED!!!! The horses are all wonderful. I LOVE the giraffes they are huge improvements! The cheetah is perfect, but the leopard isnt as impressive. The cows i am in love with, except the bull reminds me of a stuffed animal with a fat body and tiny legs. I like the trumpeting elephant, but the other adult reminds me of the old one too much. I am glad to see the oryx!! and the unicorn are very cool :)

The baryonyx looks like an allosaurus.

What's the point of retiring the whole new dinosaur set, then making repaints of them in sets with new ones?

The pangolin, flamingo, and oryx are amazing.

The mini dinos seemed impractical at first but after I've seen them, along with the new ones, I believe they are a must have.

I'm not sure about the DC movie line. Really like the actual comic figures, but I don't think the movie line looks anything like Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, or Henry Cavill.

I also really like Schleich branching out with other prehistoric animals.

And last but not least making amazing animals and then putting them in special scenery packs. I want the chameleon, the snake, the coral fish, the lighter lions. The scenery is cool but I don't want it.

Ok, here goes. But first a few questions, are the little piglet only going to be in sets? Or will they be individual figures as well? And the so called "baryonyx"... there is no way that is one. If so, that is a serious mistake for the company, because that looks nothing like a fishing dinosaur period (so they weren't even close). Also, they "rattler snake" set, is the black mamba snake (?) from their water hold set last year. And also, is this it? no new forest animals? And nearly all African? Moving on... (this will be rather winded, I congratulate you if you read it all )

Firstly, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, these are just mine. And right now I am about 50-50% appreciating their line up while wondering "what the heck?" Anyways, The horses are actually not bad. Compared to last years, or even the year before, I'm surprised. Now taking into consideration bad angles for some of them... I like the Friesian and Andalusian though they are different body types than I prefer. Same goes for the clydes, not sure if I like the mare, but in this case I really do like the braiding on the stallion, its traditional (though as usual I would prefer they didn't braid at all). The arab stallion as previously stated is nice, especially compared to the mare, but the tails are weird now (like thick cords of hair that is supposed to show movement, but I wish they'd leave it alone and just do hair like on the mustangs, wavy and not corded). Otherwise, the mustangs were a surprise for me. I would've picked a little more variety for colors, but they are pretty good. And lastly, Schleich seems to have trouble with feet (specifically with the horses and cows' hooves being too shallow, and the paws of dogs and cheetahs are really undefined and look like stubs).

The cows are strange to me. I really like the Holstein calf, but I have to see the rest in person to see if I like texture. I think that the birds from Schleich, including the goose are neat. Lots of feather detail. Dogs are neat, but the expression on the collie is off to me, and the paws are shapeless stubbs. What happened to the toes?

I like the cheetahs. The cub should be a dirty water gray, but I like the pose of mother a lot. Again... the paws... Leopard is at a bad angle to make a good judgement yet. I like the giraffes. I don't notice any thickness to the neck or legs, and if it is noticeable its probably due to safety issues. The calf is especially cute, I have a picture just like that of a calf at a zoo quite some time ago. I'm rather disappointed in the elephants. I like the cow (trunk up) but something about the bull strikes me as off. And they could be forest elephants, but again I'd have to see in person due to weird angles. The frog is intriguing, but I think the yellow outlines isn't typical of that species (though I'm no expert). The pelican is fantastic! He will probably take up lots of room, but I still think he is awesome, lots of character and motion from him. The flamingo is great too, sort of boring pose, but they seem to have a great sculptor for birds. The oryx is a great surprise as well, along with the pangolin. Fantastic models! Not too into ocean animals, but the guitar fish especially is wonderful as far as species choice.

Only dino I really like is the dunkleosteus. Fantastic prehistoric fish, and it looks a really mature model for Schleich, must get for sure.

The water dragon is awesome. If the piglets only come in sets I will definitely get them (especially since they appear to be pot belly piglets). I'm excited for the black mamba set since I didn't want to pay 50$+ for the water hole just for it, the moray eel, tropical fish, wobbegong, and purple octopus sets are also neat. Great for ocean scenes. Also, its interesting they are rereleasing the chameleon and gerbils... are the other sets retiring? or will they just be doubles?

Over all, I can safely say I am impressed so far. I know they aren't the best quality... no idea why they insist on cutesy. However, the fact that they did an oryx after so long, or even a pangolin (quite literally the last animal I thought they'd EVER make) I applaud them. They still have issue with details like proportions, and feet, but that must be a sculptor who does that. And lastly, (I may post comparison pics tomorrow if I have time) but I think they have "borrowed" mold from previous years, or at least got heavily inspired by them. Not sure how I feel about that, but its definitely de ja vu with models like the oryx, octopus and dimetrodon are remiscent of Papo, and especially the cattle and goose! I hope its coincidence.

Anyways, again I'm mostly impressed (though not totally happy) with Schleich this year. I wait until I see the models in person though to make definite opinions though. (and all above applies to what's been released so far, I'm not sure if there's more).

I believe the sets like the gerbil and mamba snake haven't been released this year, although they were supposed to be.

Also, in the past, Schleich used to skip numbers for young and other figures to be made in later years. Recently they haven't done that much. Between the Farm Life, Wild Life, and Prehistoric Life there are more than a few numbers missing. Are there more animals made for 2016 or did they just skip these numbers for some other reason?

Im hoping the list isnt done. But who knows, they seem to have a handful of clerical errors for naming products, could be for numbering too.

I just hope that there is a Real Baryonyx slated for the summer, and they they mixed the names up and called it a herearasaurus.

Finding and reading some of these comments before I saw the pictures was so suspenseful.

The cheetah and pangolin have potential- I think it would be best if both were on the smaller side. The pelican has an impressive pose (if not versatile), and seems quite accurate (look at the detailed mouth!). The oryx is tantalizing... is it big-headed?- it may be the photo angle. I'll probably like it. The moray eel looks interesting, unless the color pattern is "carved in" like the boa's. I can't understand why poison dart frogs would be given so much texture; I guess the current brand image is heavy texture on everything.

And that is a Herrerasaurus, no matter what name is attached.

The cattle are awul, too-so sad, that Schleich isn't doing his former excellent cattle anymore-but the Cheethas, the leopards and the giraffes even beat the 2015"Werewolf"- Schleich's most poor Model they ever made.My favourite Toystore isn't sell him and some of the other poor 2015 models and replaced them for more Papo Animals-I'm curious what will they say if I show them the pics of the next year models...

Please, how they can want (much)money for such a cheap quality ?

Great find! Thanks for posting. English thoroughbreed, new forest pony, westphalian and another arabian. Usually they make around 15 horses per year. Plus, there are 3 new horse sets on that page [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I think there are also some wildlife animals missing, because of the gap between numbers 14752 and 14757.

The waterfall+river+river set from this year has the white special lion (and cub?) in it.

I hope the gerbil on the picture isn't gong to be instead of the two from this years photo?
