| This new Paleoloxodon looks absolutely amazing both in sculpture and design. I love the species choice as well since this is truly a remarkable elephant.
There is only one minor critique I have about this model, though. I noticed he was in 1:35 rather than 1:40 scale like the Steppe Mammoth. Personally, I prefer consistent scaling among prehistoric figures. However, this is a minor nitpick on my part, especially since this species in particular should be gigantic. Overall, this figure is still fantastic. |

| I was waiting for the second model and now I am waiting for the third!
It is a bloom time for great extinct elephants : two Eofauna's, a Safari's mastodon and a Collecta's Gomphotherium. Awesome! |

If they keep dropping five every time, then I hope a Columbian Mammoth is their fourth release. That'll be 1:25 and perfect for my collection! |

Now that would be a true giant! Well, the Carnegie woolly mammoth is 1:24, and the Wild Safari mastodon is thereabouts, so it would be about right :) |

Really? I didn't realize they were that big, particularly the Carnegie version. Still, I really like their Paleoloxodon and the size is similar to what I collect. I know that scale preferences can be personal and any figure could be right for someone. |

I'm a big fan of that 1:24ish scale because that's about the scale of most modern animal figures. It's not exact, but it looks about right to put the Carnegie mammoth and Wild Safari mastodon beside other Safari and Schleich figures, and even most Papo ones. Mojo ones are a little bigger, which works to represent megafauna like dire wolves. When putting together a collection (used for education) replicating my area's Pleistocene ecology, having them all about the same scale kinda' matters, to capture a good impression of these animals' size and how impoverished our Holocene ecology actually is. |

| I think we actually have very similar likes when it comes to prehistoric figures. While I don't use my figures for education (although I greatly admire the fact that you are able to), I love the added benefit of seeing how they accurately look together. Some of these giants were a lot grander in size than others.
Of course the main difference is that the focus of my collection is dinosaurs and prehistoric sea life. A lot of them were originally produced in 1:40, so that's why I prefer it. I can see why 1:24 works better for mammals. |

Oh yes, 1:40 is the best for dinosaurs, for sure. It bugs me that CollectA does a smaller scale, because otherwise they do a better variety of dinos than Safari does (even though Safari has better sculpting). 1:40 ice age mammals works for comparing the size of a mammoth to a T. rex, but doesn't look as good with standard sized modern mammals. |

| Recently, EoFauna (the same company that made that wonderful Steppe Mammoth model) has teased a model of Palaeoloxodon antiquus. What are your thoughts on it? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Hello Ravonium, it is an excellent model and I hope Eofauna will make more and more beautiful figures like this one. There is already a dsicussion about the Palaeoloxodon [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| 2018 is the year of extinct elephants! Here are some pics of the new elephants (Collecta, Eofauna and Safari amid older figures). [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Awesome seeing them all lined up like that! Gives a nice impression of the size... That steppe mammoth could also pass for a younger woolly mammoth at that scale. Hmmmm... Very cool! |
