I've got this good news from Collecta :
"The Collecta model of the Dimetrodon is in the new series of animals that lived before the dinosaurs. These models are at the same scale as the Prehistoric mammals. The CollectA model adopts the new ideas for the animal's sail that now believes that the upper part of the neural spines were independent of skin webbing. Fossils show that these often became damaged and misshapen in life. Various reasons for the sail have been proposed but it is possible that it was used for sexual selection. The new model adopts the idea that dimetrodon walked more like a crocodile and did not sprawl as it was once depicted as doing."

Interresting sculpt with a "Dimetropus" locomotion, it is really really interresting for me. I have already too much dimetrodons but I will have a place for this unusual and brave model.

Eh, I like this dimetrodon! In a year where Safari and CollectA, two important makers of prehistoric figures, are releasing a dimetrodon. Comparisons are unavoidable. CollectA has clearly a more modern interpretation, now it looks really a huge predator with this posture. The pose however, doesn't look completely natural but I may be more used with the "outdated" posture. I love also the level of detail on Doug's interpretation and Safari's painting is more attractive to me. But this one is really a new dimetrodon in all regards. I also enjoy the spines longer than the sail, as Playspaces did in the past. Interesting how CollectA shows that the sail was not the only element in common between the distant related spinosaurus and dimetrodon. :)

Very interesting and beautyful model
It almost looks like a different animal than the crawling one we are used to. See for instance at the Carnegie animal from 1988 : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Well, it seems there were several species of dimetrodon, but still
Kosta, thanks for this video. I think this is one of the best prheistoric figures from CollectA. I love the sail, it is unique and beautiful. The skin folds are very realistic. Head is quite convincent and pose really nice. A special dimetrodon in this hobby.
