| Just a few fishies for July, and two are replacements: 1. spotted eagle ray, Aetobatus narinari (Safari Ltd.) This retired Safari figure replaces the Mojo one in my collection. I prefer the color of the Mojo, but the Safari figure has a better sculpt and is a better size. 2. dog-faced puffer, Arothron nigropunctatus (Epoch) This figure replaces the Yowie version, which is a bit cartoonish 3. Mekong giant catfish, Pangasainodon gigas (Colorata) This is from the 2004 Fossil Fishes Box; my box is from 2015 and did not include this beauty. | Those are great. The catfish is a really strange inclusion for the Fossil Fishes box, but a beautiful figure. _________________ Where I try to find the best figure of every species: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Time for some 'on shelves' shots. Starting with the fish. They are displayed 'evolutionarily' from bottom to top. Bottom row are cartilaginous fish and some extinct bony fish (sharks, rays, skates). The next row up are the bony fish outside of the broad concept 'Perciformes', including gars, sturgeons, true eels, carp and relatives, catfish, gobies, and trout and salmon. There are a few broad perciform fish, namely random deep-sea fish Third row are the broad Perciformes, including many familiar pelagic and coral reef fish, such as anglerfish and kin, angelfish, sea horses, marlins and kin, tuna, wolffish, stonefish, porcupinefish, sea bass, and others The 'tetrapod fish' are displayed with the amphibians on the next shelf up and not covered here. | This is the good stuff. Really nice assortment. Kind of amazing how few figures there are of ostariophysan fishes, considering there are 9 or 10 thousand species. _________________ Where I try to find the best figure of every species: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Moving up the evolutionary tree with 'herpatiles'. The bottom row is tetrapod fish and amphibiams. The middle row up are lizards and snakes. The top row are crocodilians and turtles and kin, with Shringasaurus too :-) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| Delightful Yes, I noticed Mr. Shringasaurus immediately, and the little red frog from Schleich is also in good compagny here |
