New Item of NTC - Yangtze (updated 2023.12.28)

I display many of my Kaiyodo animals without their bases.

One particularly positive aspect of detachable bases is that if you are interested in building dioramas, sometimes the animals with bases are positioned, like several here, such that they couldn't be produced/sold that way otherwise but would stand on uneven terrain, making for a much more authentic appearance/dynamic.

That is a very good point and I'll definitely consider animals with bases if I ever decide to create a diorama!!

Assuming that this set ever releases, I need the Baiji, banded Shark, Crane, and the Yangtze sturgeon (I didn’t realize this is a different species from the Colorata Chinese sturgeon!!) plus accessory catfish. Four new species to figure form, plus the first Japanese rendition of a baiji!

I also didn't realize it's a different species. So even cooler. Plus, the accessory fish is also new to us!

It's also, definitely, the first High fin banded shark figure.

The Australian set from NTC was just given a release date today, so maybe we actually will see this Yangtze set!

Not completely sure--I know its 2022

Oh wow those are stunning! When it says they come off the base, do you know if the animal comes off the base? Or for example does the Takin stay attached to the rock but come off the wood piece underneath? They are lovely but I'm not a huge fan of those bases, would be tricky to hide on a diorama.

If they're like other NTC figures, the animals probably won't stand alone.

In most (if not all) existing NTC's, the animal, diorama base, and square pedestal are separate pieces.

So actually, and I mentioned this further back in this thread, I believe, the figures would be especially nice in a diorama as they could be positioned on uneven terrain.

Though there are still many unknowns (release date, price, country of issuance), I continue to take orders for these. As long as they release in Japan, I'll be getting them.

If they only release in China, I'll be trying.
