Tiermann's Recent Additions - Aug 20 Trico plus

A seller had a bunch of different auctions for some great composition figures and I couldn't resist bidding on a number of them. First up is this Lineol III Kangaroo with Joey

Then there were a number of Tipple Topple Elastolin figures - all marked Austria on the bottom.
This wonderful walrus was a great find I think

Also marked Austria are this reindeer/caribou

Then there was this peacock. It has a hollow in the base but no markings. Seller listed it as Elastolin, but they listed everything as that. It doesn't match up with Elastolin figures I have seen online at sites, but could well be - or by someone else?

Now in a different series of auctions there were 3 pairs of the animals from the Trico of Japan large composition zoo series. I have seen this in a box before at auction as a set of the 6. I haven't seen any others in this large size. I already have some of the smaller figures they made from the zoo series, the smaller ones being of generally low quality but having some charm. These big ones are much more highly detailed and as you can see rather glossy in the paint. These guys are in fantastic condition considering they are from the 1930s and are 85-90 years old. The material is surprisingly light weight compared to other brands.

This buffalo is rather exciting in pose, but the feet are too narrowly together so he wants to fall over, not a good combination with a tail like that I think. I am keeping him on his side but may try to make a plastic stand for him one day.

And now we come to the real star here in my opinion. The zebra. This is perhaps the nicest zebra I have. It may not be super realistic in a few ways, but the charm! Look at the lightness and activity of the pose. Alert head and a spring in the step. It makes all my other zebras seem frozen and awkward.

This one has the clearest to see Japan marking typical of this brand on many figures.

The photos as is often the case don't really do the figure justice, but I am sure you get the idea.

Holy smokes, there are some really fabulous figures there. Congrats!

Some fantastic and very rare models, Tim! You are right, there is something really special on that zebra but actually I like all the designs of these Japanese vintage figures. They remind me much more the style of the French models than the German ones. Though, it is important to notice that the Japanese are older than the French I am thinking about. I hope someone help you identifying the peacock, maybe Yvette if she find this topic.

Thanks for the comments! I forgot to post a photo to show a comparison of size. These Japanese figures are bigger than usual for composition. The zebra is about 6 inches long - 14cm
Here it is with an Elastolin one that is about the same size as Schleich zebras.

Great new additions, the koala is splendid

Wow Tim, you found so many true jems
The austrian reindeer is very beautiful.
But I am especially in love with these Japanese models .
They have so special style and charm.
I also understand why you like the Zebra the most. It look`s very very beautiful.
But I also like very much the Lion and Tiger, they look very unique.

They are beautyful, charming, rare, old, - and in a fantastic condition !!!!
