Here you are Kiki, my pack of dingos. I have the two large Wild Republic/K&M polybag models, Southlands, my brand new Science and Nature , Safari, K&M tube, Yowies, and my first dingo was a Hartung I repainted. It is not very good but at the very start of my collecting I really needed a dingo so... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Thank you, it is a very fine family pic and a wonderful clan. I'm very happy to see the Science and Nature, it found a very good home |

| Thank you all for your comments on the tahr and the dingos. Kiki your S&N giant friend fit in quickly as you can see. Dingos are actually an intriguing group as I have seen them included in dog breed encyclopedias (where I was informed a dingo is only a "real" dingo if it has 4 white socks) before but if you ask a native Australian they are treated more like wolves, especially when livestock are concerned. They descend from early ancestors and "primitive" forms of New Guinea singing dogs, and in Australia today there are scientific debates regarding their classification as they have extensively interbred with (other) feral dogs introducing packs of dingos with other colors and patterns like white patches, brown or black or even tricolored puppies but they all are raised wild and behave like ancestral wild dingos... so the debate is are they classified as coywolves? As feral dogs? As true blue dingos? Regardless they are generally considered pests, but they occupy this unique placement of being on the border of feral and domestic... I have considered repainting some model into this hybrid type but haven't found the right model yet... Further these "wild" dogs have been used in some other domestic breed development such as Australian cattle dogs. Also, Australia Zoo has a white one and I have no info of its genetics but I wonder if it just a paler variant or may have other hybrid characteristics. Anyhow, just a really curious animal family. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | I am fascinated by thylacines which disapeared so recently, almost under our eyes, maybe around my birthday.. We have so many pictures and even moovies showing them, that it's hard to convince ourselves about their disappearance..
I have the CollectA and the Mojo ones as a couple and I like them a lot. As french man, I have the Starlux too of course since my far youthness!.. By now, I didn't order the Southlands one because of its head that seems a little oversized to me..
Thank you for this beautiful picture Paige! :) |

| Thank you Kiki, Ana, and Alain! Canines are my specialty so I am glad I could inform a little on the dingos. Caracal I completely agree! I think the hope of them still having a remnant population is wishful thinking, but still possible given the vast areas of desert desolation in Australia. Add them to the list of eradicated carnivores... I think the Soutulands does have a big head but not outside of realistic proportions. These placental mammal carnivores just like thylacoleo and tasmanian devils have a serious set of jaws. Paired with the wide mouth gape they can achieve it accentuates the size comparably, but not outside of proportion in my opinion. All I need is an excuse to add thylacines to my shelves, such amazing animals they were! _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. Thank you for this beautiful picture Paige! :) For me the head isn't too big, Jason shows in this model a thylacine feature, they were able to open their mouth more than a canid. I made a walkaround [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] if you want more pics |

| Thank you everyone. Papo puma wondering where that tahr went. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]In fact, these hills just outside of town have lots of cougar conflict in them. I was definitely looking over my shoulder on this photoshoot. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Thank you Bonnie, Megaptera, Widukind, Susanne, Caracal, and Sunny! Caracal, locally there are lots of sightings IN TOWN and they attack dogs and cats all the time. There haven't been any human predations here for years but there have been attacks within 100 miles of my town. For me, cougars frighten me most because you wouldn't even know it was there until it was too late. And I don't live in a village so to speak either... its a town with 55,000 people here, small but not so remote for wildlife to be so comfortable inside city limits. Sunny, do you mean this Schleich white hare? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Or one of these arctic hares? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Or this bullyland model? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Nonetheless, thanks again. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. I think it looks like the Papo one ? as it is crouching (facing to the left) but I can't see the feet from the angle. The larger standing arctic hare is facing it. Thank you for the links:) |
