| Hmm, maybe I can find time to do a small one, like this Chinamal Rough collie. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

I have decided that my little fennec will be my official STS Model Painting Month figure

They are very small, so I may be able to complete the project . [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
There are 25 of them (6 different models), but I believe we aren’t allowed to paint more than one for the STS painting month. That’s great, as painting two would be rather overambitious . Awesome choice. You can paint as many extras as you like in May. Just choose one as your official model I'm sure everyone will be happy to see this whole family of rats in color! - Birdsage wrote:
- I would repaint the Disney Pocahontas Mule Deer Buck. Its color is bright orange and completely inaccurate regarding color, but the forked antlers are spot on for Mule Deer (side note; the choice of species for this particular franchise might not have been accurate, as it is the Whitetail that is found in Virginia). This is thus the perfect candidate for repainting in my collection![You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Great choice too I'll be excited to see it - Burgerenby wrote:

| Here is my victim. The Mountain Animal Studio bison It was on my list of animals to paint for a long time. A really lovely model, I think I've started prepping him last week but he still needs some more work before I can put a layer of primer on it. He's 10cm tall and 16cm long, so it would be between 1:18 and 1:20 scale. _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| This giraffe is in such a great condition and they are so hard to find like that. Isn't it a shame to repaint it? I have several of these that are in a poor condition, would you like to have one?
I noticed that a beautiful rare Clairet cheetah has also been proposed for repainting. Perhaps I shouldn't say, but I believe that rare figures that are in a good condition are very valuable and are best left untouched. |

| thank you for your kind offer Roger, that is very generous of you! actually I have a few giraffes in my collection and they have very good paint work compared to this one, and I even have others in way worse condition with no spots at all, tailless and chewed off ears/face, so it would not be a loss for me by repainting it, but I understand you completely when you say they are seen as valuable, especially by collectors who value original untouched figures. I too value models that I see as excellent condition and I use a grading system for my models, so ones that are not A+ can then be customised, though I also do love many models that have imperfections in them and I keep them just for that reason alone. I used to sell my repainted figures online and they were very popular! this is the other giraffe I had been considering to repaint but it needs the legs straightened out first and the face needs rebuilt. I have WePam on order to build it up, and one of the legs is also broken so I will need to repair it first too, but I decided to repaint the better condition giraffe in the meantime. - rogerpgvg wrote:

| Oh, if you have several of these giraffes, then I understand that you repaint the worst one. Still, I am happy to offer you one of my spotless giraffes. The giraffe with broken tail will need a lot of work to bring it into a good state.
The older, polythene Britains are often in a poor state with very little paint left on them and they are better off repainted. The early Britains giraffe is beautifully sculpted and would look really good if it is skilfully repainted. It's better than the later giraffe, where the moveable neck is a bit disturbing. |

Here it is : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This beautiful African forest buffalo model is very special , because it is made from Anna`s very tallented hands, but also because it will be repainted for a very good STS friend, who is also joining the event [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This buffalo is staying with me for sooooo long time ( the owner knows that very well...), waiting to be repainted ..., but Kosta - the Sloth , was in kinda of big break of repainting. So now is the perfect time to do it ..at last Great choices of model - ''victims'' from all friends here :) Anna I especially love your Bison model, it look`s really beautiful and can`t wait to see it painted.

| On the last minute I decided which animal I want to repaint. I have chosen this poor mountain lion/cougar by Hausser/Preiser. His original color is completely gone so this might be a good idea. Love all of your projects and can't wait to see your progresses!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Everyone has made interesting choices- there is a lot of variety between the types of models. I'll have to go back through these images and look more closely. I was trying to decide which model I might want to choose (that wouldn't be overly ambitious), and I finally settled on this Tree House Kids wapiti that I always intended to repaint. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]It won't require too much customizing. I plan to adjust the antlers' position a bit, and the legs are slightly warped (but it still stands well). It's similar in size to the Safari model, so they should display better together after painting. Thanks Anna and everyone for a motivational topic! _________________ - Andy

| As some of you know i was thinking about painting my old lead/metal bear figures. Almost all of them have major paint loss. I am not much of a creative soul, but I did end up getting some paint and I choose this old Britains bear to be my victim. I forgot to take pictures before I started. but here is a picture from my trades topic. As you can see he is going bald quite a bit. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The nice people from the modelbuild-shop hete in Amsterdam recommended to use oilpaint, So i got a mat white, offwhite, medium brown and a mat black. First I tried to match the colour of the old paint, but that was just not working out. Then I tried to only paint the areas of paintloss, but that was just not working out either. So I took a black spraycan... No just kidding, I did end up painting the whole model. It is more reddish than the original. Using a paper towel I dabbed off some paint. Here is the result so far. I do quite like the mat look. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Shall I give it eyes and a nose? If so it has to be black [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
