Uhh, I'll never understand the difference between Preiser, Hausser, with or without Elastolin in the end Preiser bought the 70mm series moulds when Hausser closed its doors in 1984. All older "elastolin" are Hausser which produced animals in composition and later in plastic from 1920 to 1980's. It is uneasy to distinguish most of the 70mm Hausser from the Preiser. For the Mountain goat it is easier, with a pink muzzle this is a Preiser. |

| Yes the lizard is a Hausser elastolin, elastolin isn't a brand. |

| Congratulations, I love the gazelle, it looks very different from the one on TAW. Is your fox hollow? - Kikimalou wrote:

Oh, it reminds me Willybacoman times. I read everywhere Elastolin is a trademark used by the firm Hausser to their figures. It just means Elastolin is a brand and Hausser is a company. I think I've read on forum the Elastolin name is derived from the material they used but since it became a trademark, it is a brand. Considering the brand name was used by Hausser and Preiser, I think for collecting purposes, it is more comprehensive to use the company names. Maybe somewhat like Eikoh, their brand name is Miniatureplanet but we keep calling them Eikoh, They're marked EIKOH anyway. |

Nevertheless, when we are talking about Elastolin animals it is better to think by company and not trademark. I explain, the trademark Elastolin was used by three companies: Hausser, Ougen and Preiser. Hausser is the original German company, it produced all the composition animals until 1969, then the well known 54mm and 70mm series. It also produced some plastic models before 1969, some were compo animals copies and some very rare original models. Ougen was the French distributor of Elastolin 54mm, the painting was a bit different and more fragile. Preiser is the company which bought the 70mm series moulds when Hausser closed. Some paintings are different and so are the prices All of them are Elastolin. |
