| I also bought the caracal, finding it locally I couldn't avoid considering the species. It is a clunsy model and not very appealing in my opinion. Schleich could do it better but at least Schleich released one at this scale while the similar brands have just ignored so far. I like the size, it should be smaller? right but the size is still fine for me. I hope Alain doesn't mind me sharing a picture with a few CollectA models. | At the contrary! Thank you for this so useful picture showing other african animals at about the same scale! And you are right, it is a rather clumsy model with unatural standing pose but as you wrote, we have no big choice! |

And you are right, it is a rather clumsy model with unatural standing pose but as you wrote, we have no big choice! I'm glad it is useful. At least it gives a good illusion. I'm also being a little cruel because these CollectA models are all very good, even the cheetah is at a higher quality level than the caracal but I'm so happy Schleich made one. |

| Yes and moreover its general proportions and its head are rather good. I think the bigger Mojo lion would fit better with him.. :) |

| I was tempted to buy the otter but I've spent more than I was supposed to because it was the first time for a long time I ahd seen a shop with new released models. It is always exciting, especially when there are new species but, despite the otter being a common one, it is nice and works nicely with the other models. Though, I couldn't resist to the badger since it was on sale. That aardvark is not a big thing and in my opinion it is not worth the money they ask or at least they should have made something more realistic and substantial. Though, how to avoid an aardvark? It is just impossible and it is actually cute. |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]my preiser collection is growing up (I forgot the stork, the golden eagle and the moutain goat!): [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I particulary love this lioness that I already had at 1/32 scale from Ougen brand: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].. and these tiger and brown bear I already had since my far childhood from Ougen too. These 2 were available in the seventies in the small town I was living close and I prefered them to their Starlux counterparts but at the contrary of these latters, their wonderful paintings did not hold. | The 54mm world is much arround the triangle of UK, France and Germany but surely Denmark has an important representative. Reisler is a great brand! |

| Great comparison of the two Hausser Elastolin/Preiser sizes. They made great animals. And I agree, the lioness is very good. |

Congratulations on such a beautiful collection Alain! I love those tiger cubs and especially the impala, and that swan is beautiful! plus the fox is very nice. They must be slightly bigger than Britains 1/32nd scale, as I have a lioness similar to your one (from Ougen? - I've never heard that brand before). What really fascinates and delights me about Presier is the look of the models - they have a bygone era appearance to them, they are very well painted and very animated, and incredibly - they are still being made today? (if I am correct?) I really love this brand! |

| Yes, Preiser is still sold, though they are hard to find and are quite expensive.
The 70 mm animals that Preiser currently sells are larger than the Britains (about 1:25 scale), but the smaller 54 mm versions of the tigers, lions and bears that Alain showed are similar in size to the Britains. Ougen sold Hausser Elastolin in France. They often have a different paint style. |

| Arrived yesterday from Jean-Louis, a friend of our french forum. I don't collect compo or mass models but as he proposed them to me at Schleich-like prices, I could not resist! I was dooling from a long time in front of the stag and the yak which are according to me, with the eland, the oryx, the wisent and the sable antelope, true monuments among animals figurines. They are all from Lineol fourth generation except the lynx which is from Elastolin. I hope Christophe will confirm because I am not a mass/compo models specialist! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]here some size comparison pictures: witht Papo: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Schleich: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]CollectA: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Schleich: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]old Bullyland and Papo: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]At the contrary of the other models, the lynx seems not as realistic and accurate as the modern plastic ones. I think linces were very few known by these times. Maybe this one has been copied from an old illustration..
