Some super lovely newcomers again, Christophe!
I love the face of this Wend-Al toys tiger, too funny! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
And Dulcop Rhino has a very intriguing, artistic shape, I love it [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Funny to see the Miniland elephant joining your collection! I have one too and it's one of the 4 models that I still have from my childhood collection. I really liked it as a kid.
And a very nice new family of warthogs too Congrats!

Thank you Anna
About your childhood elephant, I bought it on a batch and surprisingly I started to like its very "90s" charm. I don't know if it will stay with me forever but for the moment it has earned its place. In addition I took the opportunity to take a family photo with the new Mojo, a wink through the decades

The Miniland black panther and the Funrise leopard shared the same moulds (the same for the Mountain goat). The Miniland are from 1990 so they are younger than the Funrise. I guess those companies had some links between them.
Thanks for explaining! The connections between companies and the use of molds by many different ones is quite a learning curve.

Ah, what I missed here ... It is always sooo pleasant to watch this topic , with your newcomers Kiki :) This variety of old and new models and your taste of them is so good. There is never a single model, which you show and to be not interesting for my eyes. All models are wonderful ! I really like all rhinos, the Bandai Giant Weta is amazing, the Lafredo Giant anteater is real Elvis The leopard by Jeol is real jewell ! The Miniland elephant is really charming. I love it ! The Mojo elephant is really nice . All Warthogs are wonderful, but I am a huge fan of the Mojo one. And these Kinder Hippopotamus and calf are so adorable. I never see them before. Actually may I ask, do you know more information about them ? From which set they are? Are they new or old ? Some time ago, I tried to search all Kinder animal models made in the past. And I saw a lot. But I don`t remember seeing these hippos or other models similar to them. I would love to find these two for my Kinder collection.. Big congratulations for all these wonderful newcomers !

I just found one video on Youtube af a great Kinder collection. And on 01:21 min , I saw your hippos, together with the other models from the set. There is also an Elephant mother and calf. This is probably an old set, maybe from the end of the last century ... but I could be wrong. Here is the video :

This month of October was very special for my slimming treatment, some animals left me to reach Colombia (ah the beautiful trips, I envy them) but others managed to sneak into the house to the favor of my 57 years old. It must be said that a year ago, I "celebrated" my birthday in an intensive care unit. This year is very special to me, first birthday of my new life.
So what's new on my shelves? Like last time, I will introduce my guests according to the materials used.
First come the animals in composition.
Do you like travelling ? The dolce vita ? So I take you to Italy with the Chialu brand. Chialu only arrived late on the composition toy market. the company was founded in 1950 by Luigi Chiappa after the closure of the Confalonieri company where he had previously worked. manufacturer of small soldiers, we nevertheless owe him series of wild animals, sometimes very inspired by Germanic majors and sometimes original. We also attribute to Chialu a series of plastic animals but this is only a hypothesis to my knowledge. The company closed its doors in 1967 alas.
For this time two Indian rhinoceros have succeeded in squatting my shelves, a big "serious" rhino like a Lineol and a smaller and more funny one, closer to the 54mm 1/32 standards.
After Italy, Belgium with the Durso brand (Duratum ac solidum) which produced figurines from 1938 to 1988. A series of 5 books was published in a hundred copies, volume 4 speaks in particular of animal figurines , I would love to take a look.
Durso figures are made of a denser and heavier material than Hausser or Lineol figures. Less realistic than Lineol IV, they nonetheless have a crazy charm. As proof I show you this stalking tiger, smiling with all its teeth.
And at last Austria with these few Pfeiffer: A rather funny badger, the Dromedary of 1950 and the Jackal of 1914 (dixit U. Raue ). Ah yes there are also two figures from the miniature series, the elephant and the wolf.
I made a Jackal walkaround [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Make way for metal as Lenny would say, with first a small detour through Argentina with an Indian rhinoceros (one more??? !!!) in hollowcast lead from EG-Toys. This company produced a whole series of animals very inspired by Britains Ltd and some originals like a Rhea. For this rhino, "the inspiration" is to be found on the side of France because it looks a lot like the Blancherie Frères. Admire the off-white horn.
Return to France with an aluminum elephant from Quiralu. In 1933, Emile Quirin decided to use a stock of unused aluminum to make small soldiers. "Quiralu" is the contraction of Quirin - Aluminum and became the largest and most prolific firm of aluminum subjects. it made a series of farm and zoo animals that will be reproduced by the Wend-Al Company. It is not always easy to recognise them, but in general, the Quiralu have a more elegant paint and beige bases while the Wend-Al have green bases. For the elephant it is quite simple on the other hand, the Quiralu has the trunk which touches the head, this is not the case with Wend-Al. Quiralu failed its switch to plastic and closed its doors in 1962.
We stay in France with the rhinoceros Cofalu. It is certainly not the most beautiful, the most realistic of all rhinos but I like its face and it is very rare to find it Cofalu is a Girondine company founded in 1947. As its name suggests, it manufactured aluminum subjects, in particular small bicycle racers, before switching to plastic. Less famous than Quiralu, Clairet or Starlux, this firm still managed the feat of surviving the 80s and continues to exist today, it manufactures bazaar toys under the KIM'PLAY brand. Its series on wild animals includes some animals "very inspired" by Starlux but also some original models like a running leopard, the most improbable of elephants and this little rhino.
It’s time to go to Japan, still in plastic but not vintage, the Takara Toy Mimetic insects set reached my 1/1 scale shelves. Collecting arthropods and other weirdos wasn’t my thing for years. I remember when Yujin made three insects sets in the early 2000’s, they were beautiful and very cheap.I was very tempted but I said no ! Stupid macaque, I’ll probably never catch them since they are very rare and very expensive now. So what happen in my life to change my mind ? BLAINE !!!! Looking at his impressive and wonderful collection was like falling into a spider's web and now I'm all stuck. Of course I would never be a specialist in the genre but now when one of these critters makes my heart beat, I jump on it before it becomes overpriced. I’m a macaque but I have now some chameleon genes
Last but not least, let’s go to Spain ! I also bought some resin models for my birthday. They are sculpted and painted by Nepaim Hesev, a member of STS who has been inactive for a few years but who regularly publishes his new models on Facebook under the name Divartsity (this is also his nickname here). I've been itching for a long time but when I discovered this bewitching Red river hog, I cracked! I love Red river hogs. I took the opportunity to get my hands on some small jewels: Red river hog (do you know I love Red river hogs ?), Water chevrotain, Greater mouse-deer and Yellow-striped chevrotain.

I think the most important of this magnificent post is your message of hope. You're recovering the joy of the weird simple things of life. That's a nice trip through many countries and eras. Probably the most unexpected for me is your new badger. Now I can't stop asking myself, aren't there vintage wolverines? Curiously, I find your Cofalú rhino a piece of poetry, I love how it exaggerates some elements but the general look is of a relatively gracile rhino. That hump and dropping back, almost shrinked in this model, is quite characteristic of white rhinos, just check the newer from CollectA that is a piece with a similar approach. There's something special in those Yujin creatures, I don't know if it is your ability to capture the best angles or if they got that thing appearance those creatures bear.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Thank you for the hope The Pfeiffer badger isn't very realistic but it is so charming, isn't it A model made for our Susanne [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I don't know anything about a vinatge wolverine alas, for me the first ever is still the 1996 Toy Major.
The Cofalu rhino is indeed a piece of poetry for me, it took place on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
One funny thing, it is an hybrid, a gray rhinoceros, a white rhino body with a black rhino mouth [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The Takara insects are indeed more hypnotic than mimetic, no way to forget them on a shelf They are very photogenic.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Thank you my friend
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Indeed Blaine you can be proud of that Beware about the antennae, they are a pain to put on the models and so easy to loose.

Many beauties in the photos! But, as Roger says, the best of this post is the illusion of celebrating the first year of your new life!
The plastic series of Chialù is not a hypothesis, it is a wonderful reality at the same time extremely elusive and rare.... In fact, I think you have a rhinoceros from this series....
Durso is a brand that makes me curious, you talk about there are several volumes that showed them but according to my knowledge of the production of wild animals is that it was very limited.... Mind you, some impossible poses of panthers and leopards are very worthwhile!
And we arrive to Spain... my dear Spain... and to Nepaim (who although he has a very exotic artistic name is called Manuel (one of the most Spanish-Spanish names). Nepaim/ Divarsity produces at an unattainable rate for the collector's pocket... Personally, I am very interested in his style because it is more impressionistic than realistic, and this seems to me more artistic than an excessively literal copy...
About Cofalu's rhinoceros... I thought you were looking for it!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] About the plastic series of Chialù, I was a bit septical the first time I heard about this (not from you) because this brand had a very short life since it died in 1967. Yes I have this Italian rhino and also an elephant and a Hausser imitation Orangutan, maybe I have a first step collection
Durso is, like all vintage brands, a toy soldiers brand, the five books are a meticulous review of the whole production. The animals are in the Tome 4. I have around 15 Durso at home but I would like to know how many are still missing.
I didn't new Nepaim was Manuel, I only knew his wife's name, paypal oblige Yes his work is very artistic and far more impressive in real life than on pics. Indeed I think the only good models are always artistic first, realism is meaningless and far more subjective that we often like to think.
I was looking for Cofalu's rhinoceros, but not forever Now the job is done for this one !

Most vintage rhinos are hybrid and they often favor the hanging lip. I'd probably list it as a black rhino. Your badger is really charming and I can see many animals on it.

Yes, everything's beautiful of course. Another dangerous path you've taken with arthropods. We have numerous living round here, sometimes inside, so not for me. As much as I think this pink Mantis looks pretty enough, my wife wouldn't appreciate seeing it on a shelve..
