The Schleich 14875 Bonobo Female - a walkaround by Kikimalou

Schleich has just produced the second official Bonobo in the history of toys. Safari Ltd offered one in its Primates TOOB in 2019, and it was a boy.
This time it's a girl, and at standard size, so this year we're lucky enough to invite the first Bonobo lady to visit our displays.
Our model is sitting in comtemplative mode.

The details, such as the quadrumane's fingers, are well sculpted, even if the paintwork is a little sketchy, with the anthracite tone clearly distinguishable from the black fur.

Let's talk about Mrs Bonobo's face. In my opinion, this is the most successful and charming part of this toy.
First of all, congratulations to the sculptor, there's no doubt, the model has the head and hairstyle of a Bonobo, there's no mistaking her for a Chimpanzee.
Once again, the paintwork is fairly simple, a gradient of grey for the face, the outline of the eyes "old rose" and black pupils. But that doesn't stop the lady from having quite a personality and very expressive eyes.

The model is 6cm high and its scale varies between 1/11.7 and 1/13.8.
So I naturally chose my 1/12 African jungle to house this figure.

She looks good. It's surprising that there are so few other bonobos. You'd think that they'd sell well because young children could see them as kind of a chimp while collectors would be keen to get a less common primate. The last photo is fantastic! (The others are too.)

Wow, if I had to guess who made this figure, I would never have guessed it would be Schleich.
No cute smiley face, no bows or ribbons in the fur and no glitter paint.

It's a real wild life model. A lot of seams on the model though. But I guess they are only that obvious because of the close ups.
Yes. I quite like it. I will buy it.

I really like this model! I don't collect too many primates but I think Schleich did a great job with this one. It will be a great addition to my Congo display

It was already in my wish list. Just the fact it is a bonobo at a standard size, is already something to be excited about. Your superb walk around confirms it is a bonobo and not a random chimpanzee figure marketed as a different species. The figure is equally charming, something Schleich used to be good and we still find it in some recent figures. Interesting that it uses the traditional dollhouse scale and your comparison pictures with other figures at the same scale are just delitious.
