Papo Items for 2011 with pics

Wow thank you Justin!! I hope the asian elephants are to scale, but they probably aren't. black jaguar sounds good too!

Mandrill, Marmot, Pelican & Chamois sound fantastic!
And the Yak makes me smile - remember the "Tapir wave" a year ago? Maybe this time we'll see a "Yak wave", if Collecta makes one too?
There were no yaks at the market for decades, and after Schleich has introduced one, we see another from Papo. Could it be a coincidence?
Hopefully, Papo yak we'll be black or dark brown.

Yes, Wildheart, you will finally come to your senses and realize that Papo
is the superior line over Schleich! You will leave the darkside!
Now, Safari LTD's not bad(there strength is there
Wildlife Wonders line, which UNFORTUNATELY they are only adding one figure this year(Okapi)).

With those big block heads and rounded jaws, Jaguars are kind of the Am Staff's/APBT's of the big cat world : )

Yeah! Exactly

Safari has a lot of strengths. Don't forget about Safari's wolves - they rock. Papo's wolf is also awesome, but is a little bulky (more like a Dire Wolf than a Gray Wolf). The Safari Coyote is also nice, and would make a nice Red Wolf as well. Safari's Puma is very good. Pumas are the 4th largest cat (both length and weight), so Safari's Puma fits well enough with Papo's cats. Safari's Red Fox is great, and Safari is also the only company to offer the African Wild Dog, and what a Wild Dog it is! I prefer Safari's Zebu over Papo's, and Safari is the only company offering an Arabian Oryx.

Safari's Hyena may be big, but let's face fact: Papo's Eddie-fied Hyena was a major disappointment. Using Jurassic Park as inspiration for a line of dinosaurs isn't really the same as using The Lion King as the prime inspiration for a Hyena figure.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium Collection and the Carnegie Collection are definitely some fine collections.

On another note - Safari revamped their Lemur somewhere along the way, ditching the bendable tail, resculpted the entire figure, with a more realistic paint job. Very nice. If you haven't seen it, you should seek it out.

Safari also seems to be paying some much needed attention to the TOOB figures, and increased quality is very welcome.

Each brand has it's good figures, it's great figures, and it's total duds. Papo's big cats are their forte, but camels, zebras, and most of their bears (except the Pyrenees Bear) leave much to be desired, IMO. I'm really excited about some of their new figures this year, like the hammerhead shark and black jaguar, but I think each company has some good additions this year.

I agree, BaltimoreZoo with your hopes for the Black Jaguar - it would be great if they made a new sculpt of a big, bulky, block-headed male!

Yes, the Safari wolves are good pieces as well as the African Wild dog figure.
I am looking forward to their 2011' Indian rhino fig. However, I just wish they
would have made it larger! Indian rhino's are huge! The toy companies need to not be afraid of making the animals such as elephants, hippos and rhinos larger, so that when displayed with others they look to scale!
As for the black jag, it's better if they had made a spotted version, because
you can always re-paint it black...

I agree too! After seeing the photos, there's not one Schleich figure that I'm interested in purchasing.

Oh, really? I haven't heard of that. Do you have the newer lemur version yourself? If yes, could you share some pics?
