| Red Deer Stag, walkingThis model was number 1364 in the Britains Zoo line. Originally issued in matt plastic in 1960. This version lasted until it was replaced by one in PVC in 1968. The model was finally withdrawn in 1971. Marked on the belly area: BRITAINS LTD ENGLAND Essentially, this was a re-work from the original lead hollow-cast model which was introduced in 1933. You need a bit of luck to find one nowadays with both it's antlers intact. These are damaged or missing from playworn examples. I was lucky to find this fine model complete. It isn't mint and this was the reason why I took this one out with me on my photo safari to Bradgate Park. http://www.bradgatepark.org/index.php?ID=63 Just love the way Britains/Herald obtained a neat texture to their animals. I managed to get this detail these images. Hi Susanne - I had one of these when I was a child but one of it's antlers dropped off! Glad to find this one! Thanks for your wonderful comments. Chris |

| With the platypus, it is one of the rare BRITAINS I never had in hands. You are right, the texture is wonderfully done (o)): |

You are right, the texture is wonderfully done (o)): Christophe, whilst I agree this deer model is hard to find in mint condition I have seen many examples like the one in my photos plus those without antlers and with only one of their antlers remaining. But this is here in England and elsewhere I accept that it is a rarity. In addition to this one I have two others. One matt plastic in mint condition and one in PVC plastic. Hopefully, I will take photos soon and post them here. _________________ Chris |

| Chris, thanks for showing the Britains deer 1st version with such beautiful pictures. This mold is also missing here in my humble Britains collection, I only own the most recent and its rival from Hausser that I received from Kiki, this last maybe my favorite red deer until today. Thanks also for all the additional information and I'm looking forward to see the material variations! |

AFAIK Britains made no fallow deer (at least the plastic one). But there are many similar copies from HK or China with different paintings. |

I remember seeing some Hausser plastic red deer in 1:32nd scale once at a toy fair. Don't know why I didn't buy them! They looked superb. I haven't forgotten about posting pictures of the other two I have. Hopefully, I will find time very soon. _________________ Chris |

Hi cattlecollector Britains never made a fallow deer in plastic or hollow-cast. The ones with spots are copies from Hong Kong. These are usually smaller than the Britains versions. - jarda wrote:

| Here you can see that this model is relatively rare, when not even Christophe and me do have this moddel, at least not with antlers in my case... But so many copies of it! _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/1313/willybacoman

| Thanks for sharing Chris, fine to see two of those figurines in a good condition, where most of us have only one without antlers... _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/1313/willybacoman
