| Hi, Noemi-the Charolais are by Bullyland. Klompenboertje-the 2 brown cows are by Britains and are made of metal. The little yellow cow came in a farm set with the grey cow next to it.They are made in china and are made of rubber/soft plastic. The 2 black cattle are made of plastic but I don't know the maker. |

| The Britains brown cattle are relatively common in lead, although obviously not so easy or cheap to find them in near perfect condition after all these years (production ended 1959), whereas the same (previous lead mould items) cattle in brown plastic are mega rare, believed to be only a small batch about 1969 & not in their catalogues. |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Standing Britains Ltd. pre-Deetail cows (plastic cast from the old lead molds); among which one Britains Heralds cow (yellow); and one 1970 Deetail lying cow 2134. Scattered around these are Britains calves, both Deetail and earlier.
The first three standing calves and the first three lying calves from left to right were sculptured by Kay Fido when she worked for Herald. The next two lying calves, facing to the left, are from Britains old lead moulds
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Britains 1970 Deetail standing Holstein bull, walking bull 2151, two running bulls 2131, and again the walking bull 2151. All but the first are from the old lead molds, as I understand it.
The walking bull, 2151 is also a pose sculptered by Kay Fido for Herald. Nice ones koniminiatures. Kay Fido worked for Herald when they were independent from Britains Oh, this is information worth gold! Thank you very much, Chris (Mr. Sweetman?)! If ever you have any further info on the Britains models (or corrections to my guesses at their identities..), I'd be most keen to hear. I know pathetically little about vintage cattle models, and learning more about their origins, particularly the pieces' sculptors, is very interesting to me. Klompenboertje, what a splendid cattle collection you have! I've spent nearly an hour just ogling, here... The Starlux and Rolly Toys cows are particularly beautiful. Most of your models I'd never even seen before, so thank you very much for posting them! |

| This seems like a good place to repost a photo I did some time ago, showing how some Reisler farm animals were copied from old lead animals by UK company JoHillCo: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]" /> |

| I often refer to the tohan Reisler site.
Back 'in the good old days' a lot of companies copied each other, and sometimes sold moulds to each other, plus there were companies which bought figures in from various manufacturers to make up their own boxed sets, which has confused many collectors when they buy such a boxed set containing figures from maybe three different companies. With the individual figures from moulds which changed hands it can be impossible to be sure who produced them, although others can be identified by paint styles. One of the main examples of this with vintage UK companies were several lead moulds sold by Timpo (when they changed to plastic) to Benbros (who continued with lead for several more years). |

| So that is the reason why many figures as a strong resemblance to each other? I liked the old brown cow Reisler already very similar to the old britains, though they certainly differ, so the Reisler is slightly smaller, slightly sloppy in finishing and less stable. |

| Yep, all part of the fun and interest in vintage figure collecting.
Copies are often slightly smaller than the originals - from shrinkage when making a new mould using the original. |

| I don't know if they used different molds, the only thing I know about these, is that they all have the old inscription britains 1984 (ore 1979 by the beef cattle) + china .
so I think they used the old molds for all of them |
