| Liliensternus Basic FactsLiliensternus was one of the apex predators in Triassic Germany. It preyed on Prosauropods like Plateosaurus and thecodonts. So far, only two skeletons and a skull were found. It was determined that it was related to Coelophysis and Dilophosaurus, and it was believed to be as light as the former, but it its uncertain if it had a crest or two like the latter. Thanks to its lighter build, it was capable of running after prey. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Parasaourolophus Basic Facts. This is one of the more common dinosaurs as it is easily recognized by the long tubular crest on its head. It was a Hadrosaur, so the crest was used to call off to others of its kind, especially around mating season. a Study in the 1990s has possibly unlocked what this dinosaur sounded like, after careful examination of the crest with a Cat Scan, and sound affects programming. The sound can be heard here. Other theories regarding the crest in the past were proven false due to the lack of evidence. The name Parasaourolophus means "Near Crested lizard to Saurolophus" which in turn mean that its a close relative to an Asian dinosaur called Saurolophus and the name references it. There are three species to this Genus, and all of them differ from the shape of the crest. P.Walkeri had a crest that was long and unrounded, P .Cyrtocristatus had a short and rounded crest, and the largest species P.Tubicen had the longest, and straightest crest of all three. | Wow, amazing info again. I love the sound of the Parasaurolophus. Hearing it I almost feel like I could really travel in time. Thank You for providing this lesson Takama. As a figures I like the Liliensternus most of the trio. Two Parasaurolophus'es have something cartoonish or too toyish in their look. :) _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| I like both of them, very nice. Pachyrhinosaurus is interesting species, has "rhino" in it's name, I think many ceratopsians in some ways remind modern rhinos :) _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Ampelosaurus Basic FactsAmpelosaurus was a French sauropod with a armored back. It was part of the Titanosaur family, which evolved from the large Brachiosaurids in the Jurassic. Different Titanosaurs had different sets of armor. In Ampelosaurus case, the armor was more bumpy with some small spikes on the upper half of the Back. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Tylosaurus Basic Facts Tylosaurus was one of the largest of a Marine Reptile family called Mosasaurs. It is the ancestor of today’s monitor lizards, which have a set of palatine teeth in the back of its mouth. Original Depictions of this creature showed it with just a flatted Tail, but new studies suggest that it may have had a fluke , giving its tail a similar appearance to fish tail. Stomach contents in this large sea monster has showed that it had a variety of creatures in its diet, these range from Little free diving Seabirds, to other Mosasaurs and Plesiosaurs Tylosaurus can also be seen on this forum from time to time as well. | This time I'm not kidding. The name of this dinosaur means wine lizard! It also has a long neck but that is a normal characteristic of these group of dinosaurs. So we have a crazy French wine lizard. |

| Two new ones from the same Family Rajasaurus Basic FactsRajasaurus was a Abelisaur that was found in India. It lived towards the very end of the dinosaurs, and Coexisted with its fellow Abelisaur cousin Indosuchus. At the time of its discovery, it was one of the more complete dinosaurs from that country, which was actually its own continent during the time it lived. It is also a lucky find, because Dinosaur bones in india are very hard to find because its coverd in Lava thats left over from prehistoric times, and the dense population factors in as a proplem as well. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Rugops Basic FactsLike Rajasaurus and Majungasaurus, Rugops was a Abelisaur, but its only known from a bumpy skull, and judgeing by that skull, It was a primative member of its kind, and likely scavenged for food, instead of hunting it like its more advanced relatives. | 3 of them this time, because one of them alows only 2 Pics Sarcosuchus Basic FactsSarcosuchus Was a giant Crocodile that lived in Africa around 110 million years ago. Being proclaimed the super Croc, it is believed to behave likes its modern decedents, by swimming while keeping there eyes out of the water to look out for its prey before ambushing it on land. (in this case, its prey would be dinosaurs). It also preyed on Large fish, and likely encountered Spinosaurus in the process. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Ornithocheirus Basic FactsOrnithocheirus is know from some very fragmentary remains, but the pieces have shown that it was one of the largest Pterosaurs, and was likely able to fly long distances over the ocean. Its most notable feature is the crest on the end of its long toothy beak. When it was first discovered, it was assigned to the Genus Pterodactylus as it was the only known Pterosaur at the time. It was then assigned to Ornithocheirus some time later. The Name of this Genus means bird hand, because Harry Govier Seeley (the man who described it) thought that Pterosaurs were the ancestors of birds, and the hand represented the transition. Of course this is now false, as it was learned that birds evolved from dinosaurs instead. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Minmi Basic FactsMinmi is the most well known dinosaur from Australia. It was an Ankylosaur with some very unusual features. First, its spine has little bones called Paravertabra, that may of helped it support its heavy armored body. It also had longer then usual legs for an Ankylosaur, and it was even found that it was capable of moving very fast in a trot. Even if Trotting did not help, the dinosaur would be well protected by its amour, causing a predator to obtain some serius dental issues. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
