Carola's Additions :-) (Last update April 11th 2016 - DAH, OOAK, CollectA & Breyer)

Neat horses. Neither is a mold I've ever cared for, but your pictures make both look instantly better. The Percheron mare especially is looking downright good. The comparison shot with Princess is funny - I keep coming back to see it. Congrats on the newbies!

Congrats on your new additions ! The older and newer Schleichs sure look like day and night. Wonder what happened with the original direction of the company...

Nonetheless Princess is a beautiful model, I have the same at home, mine is a dressage prospect (or should I say 1/24 scale tack mannequin ^^)

I think Schleich got a new sculptor I would LOVE to know what artists designed which models in all of the Schleich range! I do not know if that information is obtainable anywhere Maybe writing Schleich and ask? I must consider that

I guess Princess likes to do model jobs Paid in pink cupcakes

I'd also love to know who sculpted what and how the different sculptors got the job.

OOOEEE i really would like to know indeed!!!
and if it is true .. that the horses from the urlear lines
are indeed sculpted by somebody els then the last few years !
When the bows showed up i alway think .. maybe that was somebody new...

A new sculpter may have entered even earlier than the day the bows arrived. We did see some reuses/remolds of older molds such as the old Palomino body became the Knabstrupper Stallion body, Old Quarter horse Mare became new Andalusian mare with braids etc. I think we had a topic about that somewhere Could they have been transition models for e new sculptor? Or are there more new sculptors? Oooh the mystery !

Hi all

I got a new member to my herd, a 2013 Peter Stone Ideal Stock Horse(non-custom, short mane, short tail, glossy version) by the name Ken Taylor
His page on Stone Horse Reference.

I bought him secondhand from Model Horse Sales Page for an affordable price IMHO.
He is my 4th Stone Traditional.

He has been taken well care of, and I suppose he is factory mint - but that doesn't mean flawless when speaking of the Stone company...
He was sold as an OOAK(One of a Kind), but I'm pretty sure that he is actually a returned DAH(Design a Horse). For some reason Stone decided to just add some slobby ermine spots and a lip spot, and then he went all OOAK.
I suppose that business strategy is not illegal, but I think it's a bad style. No problem in reselling, but they could just be honest!

This is what is written under his belly - they didn't even try to remove the 'DAH' properly! (Btw the photo here is lightened up a lot, and his belly doen't look that bad in person as it looks here)

Nevertheless, now for the good part - he is a gorgeous guy, and I'd puchased him no matter if he was OOAK, DAH or RR(Regular Run), or whatever - I just wanted those beautiful blue eyes

He has lovely subtle dapples and his white markings a sharp and clean.

Thank you He is one of those exceptions, like Harley

EDIT- come to think of it, that all non-drafts that I have a all Appaloosas or Quarterhorses. The only exception in my traditional collection must be the Stone Arab.. And the upcoming Copperfox Buckskin Cob... But it's still a cob version/little heavier than the regulars...

Gorgoeus horse! I can see why you chose this one It's great to see model horses with realistic anatomy. His body looks great Makes Breyer a little odd looking I think

Thank you   I think maybe they fell in love! And then there is a huge drama because they are from two competitor brands and should be enemies! !

The ISH mold is indeed one of the best molds regarding realism, I believe. The ISH is sculpted by Carol Williams(Says on Modelequus.com) and Harley is sculpted by Sommer Prosser. Both have very different styles.
That's what I love very much about the Breyer/Stone/(and now) Copperfox models is that they are sculpted by various artists with each their personal style.

Also, the Stone horses usually have more sharp detail, and that maybe makes some Breyers look a little 'goofy' in comparison.
