Carola's Additions :-) (Last update April 11th 2016 - DAH, OOAK, CollectA & Breyer)

You got again some really nice horse figures! I love specially the adulte from Brigitte Eberl from previous update. It is just perfect!
I also love the way you present your figures, always with fantastic pictures, good descriptions, interesting comments, links to related pages and topics... everything so perfect!

Congratulation for your nice new adds. I'm especially happy to see Glitterati in the batch

Thank you very much Yes these two Breyers have detailed eyes, and not just the white/ black ones. Lil' Ricky Rocker's eyewhites are actually pink, same as Don't Look Twice. Seems like more and more Breyers get the detailed eyes.

Haha, he's supposed to be male but back when Breyer started making horses for the first time, mothers were outraged about male horse ... uh... parts - on their kids' toys. So the parts became "lumps" on the stallions, and the molds wore enough over the years that new releases look more like mares than before Though now obviously this isn't a problem anymore, except some collectors are adamant about getting new mares

I love Lil Ricky Rocker - I've seen him in so many stores but never did get him. Maybe someday. He's a cute little guy and I don't have any Zippos yet!

Yes, I had some extra collection funds, and they went to get Glitterati   Interesting with the missing male parts. Nowadays Breyers are not shy about that certainly. But that is a good thing.

I think Lil' Ricky Rocker is less toyish looking in person. I didn't get him before now... Because I could not decide.. But I took the chance and was pleasantly surprised. He is not completely just bare plastic on the white areas, but does have a little 'shimmering' paint shades.

I think Ricky Rocker is a neat model. My brother bought me one for my birthday last year, and I got to see the real Ricky Rocker at Breyerfest. I think the Zippo Pine Bar mold was a great choice for him. Breyer has come a long way with appaloosas!

Thank you lots   I will recommend him. But I suspect that he'll also be in the 2016 regular line, so for those who are on the fence of getting him can save the extra cash for now. I can't believe they'd make a mold for just these single sets.

Thank you   When I get my Copperfox pledge model, I have decided that I'll make a full collection photo. So far pledge models should arrive late April... But we'll see.

Hi all

Spring is coming and that means ... new models

I got two new old lovely ladies in the mail today - all new in box from a private seller in USA from MH$P.
(The paper behind the horses is put by the seller to avoid box rubs).

First is the Breyer Bay Shire on the Shire mold sculpted by Chris Hess and first released in 1972. I guess she is then considered a Vintage mold.
this particular release is from 1998 - so she has been in her box for many many years....

The other old lady - is a little younger though - she is Breyer Gladwin Luday (Lucky) Grey Lady on the Clydesdalse Mare mold also sculpted by Chris Hess and first released in 1969. She was the 2003 Breyerfest celebration model and is a limited run of 4500 made.

They are both Made in USA - as they are made before Breyer moved their entire production to China. (According to LeeAnn that happened around 2005).
I'm very happy to have some USA made Breyers finally

And now they are finally free from their boxes - after more than 10 years! (They still had that lovely citrus candy-like 'new Breyer' smell, even though they were produced ages ago).

A really nice thing was, that the seller had not removed the catalogs from the boxes - a very neat look into the past of Breyer models.

Fist the Bay Shire She is a lovely super matte rich colour. This model was re-released in 2013 as part of Breyer's Warehouse Finds series. I have seen photos of the re-released version, and she seems to have a much more shiny coat as in these photos.

She is a very cute mold And a well fed lady, I must say. The actual model is also on the heavier side of Breyers.

Her paintjob is simple. It is clear that the newer Breyers have improved a lot on detail and definition since then. But she has a lot of oldie charm and personality.

Compared to my Vixom aka Kong.

And then to the Grey Lady She is basically the closest I could get to a 'Breyer Princess' She even has a pink muzzle.

She is very posh and pretty - and looks almost like she is glossed - but I don't know if she is considered a glossy.

Lots of royal look in those eyes.

She is the second I have on the Clydesdale Mare mold. - and my first ever mini conga regarding Traditional molds. The other lady is the 2012 Mare from the Clydesdale Mare and Foal set.

Enjoying the life out of the box - together with the very new generation of Breyers - Harley D Zip (By the way - recent news says that Harley has already been retired! He was a mid-year release last year -2014 - and now - they already retired him!   I'm happy I got one   )

The grey is awesome, too, but that bay mare just hits some soft spot....WOW ! Now I know !!! She looks like my first horse, Gitte !
Gitte was probably a cross between a dachshound and a buffalo and something else, but the best horse that ever lived !
This one reminds me of Gitte
