| It is shocking that so many nice stuff are thrown away into darkness! I was right with the fox and walrus, but the rest were far from my gonna-retire thoughts!!!! At least I don't need or already have 3 quaters of the list...When it comes to the rest, some massive shopping will do it! |

| Hmm, perhaps I'll buy that fence with gate and the race horse set. Those are the only ones that I'm interested in and that I don't have yet. There's lots of speculations going on in my mind now. The retired items usually give some clues about what's coming next. Now that they're retiring the Camargue mare and foal and the Przewalski mare, could it mean that they're making new ones to those breeds? After all the Quarter Horse stallion was introduced the same year that the mare was discontinued, and there's many more of these happening. The same could apply with the wagon, I mean not the covered one but the smaller one pulled by the Clydesdale mare. Maybe they're making a new "better" wagon? In that case my dream would become true and that would mean I've indeed inherited witch blood from my mother's side xD BUT, on the other hand, Schleich likes to make mommy-daddy-baby-families, so if they were going to make a Camargue stallion for example, why would they discontinue the rest of the family? Somehow I don't believe they'd make a whole new family since the "old" ones still look good enough. Ok maybe you coulnd't make any sense of my babblings, which I completely understand. Today's been a very weird day. On the other hand I'm bursting out of happiness cos I found out I'd made it through a very dreadful linguistics examination after all though I was sure it went really badly. On the other hand I'm a bit depressed cos the horse of our equestrian vaulting team was put down today because of a tumor in his neck And I started babbling again. Bad me. |

| Kirill they're retiring the black bear so maybe a moon bear will come out after all! I can't believe they're retiring the racing set already. quite a few models that seem quite new are getting retired. So, the Okapi is going, maybe that means they'll bring out a whole new family? By the way, a new member on LG said she has the list for Schleich 2011! |

| Thanks Susanne. I feel really warm in the heart now :) Well he was quite an old horse, at least 16 years, and he taught a lot to many people, but the trouble is we don't have a good enough vaulting horse anymore... And yeah, the wagon looks a bit uncomfortable for a joy ride. Does anyone else think it's REALLY WEIRD that the older Arabian foal wasn't retired?? Like I said before it's very very rare for horses to have twins! I mean they made the new grazing Arabian foal so what's the use of having an other one?

| Danke schoen, Torben! Uh, Schleich has surprised me a lot with such a selection of items to retire When I look at the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I see only two hits out of 11 guesses! Nevertheless, I can't stand sharing my detailed comments : - Fox: finally! And as predicted. - Bald eagle: we already know there’ll be a new one in 2011, so no surprise. - Black bear with cub: oh, no! One of my favorite Schleich figures! My intuition had been hinting me that one of Schleich bear families will go, but I was inclined to think it’d be grizzly bears (‘cause I like black bears more! )… - Roedeer family: people here we’re predicting that one of the deer families will be retired (Willy and Mihnea, for example), but we tended to think of white-tailed deers instead… Of course, the roedeers were definitely not the best Schleich figures, so no complains! I’ll only have to buy doubles. - Red deer stag: it’s a bit outdated indeed, but why then introduce his wife and calf this year?! Maybe we’ll see a new stag in 2011? And hopefully in another pose (I dream of a head-down ready-to-poke-with-his-horns position)… - Hare: it seems to me, Mihnea has predicted it. Not a masterpiece too, so - farewell to him. - Okapi: not a masterpiece as well - too huge. - Dromedars: I don’t collect camels, so I support this decision. - Walrus: also as predicted by some of the forum members. And a very rational decision! - Saguaro: it’s my second guess after the fox. Hm, I should ask my wife to present it to me as a New Year gift - Baobab: rather awkward item, so maybe it’s high time for it to retire. I never liked it and haven’t still bought. And I think I won’t. P.S.: Torben, where did you get this photo, by the way? P.P.S.: I've counted 72 items on the above photo. It corresponds with the 75 new items we gonna see in 2011. P.P.S.: - WILLYBACOMAN wrote:

-I guess, the landing bold eagle is soon to be gone too, it was in two of their series alreay, and it is not very finely crafted. You were right, Willy! _________________ Owners of miniature zoos on shelves, unite! My collector's blog

| Moreover, Schleich has surprised us with some of the figures they should've, but aren't retiring! Here are just some quotes from our forecasts: - Kiryuha wrote:
-
- Bison male: they have discontinued the calf, so chances are high that his father will go too. - The older Ostrich: who needs two male ostriches, both in standing poses? ... - Black rhino female (2001): why there should be two black rhino figures in similar poses? - Hippo: the same reason as with the fox. Moreover, the hippo is a 14 years old model!Maybe we’ll see a new hippo figurine from Schleich in 2011? Although the competition from Papo and Safari is tough. - Squirrel eating: this 2003 figure looks out-of-date near the newer Schleich squirrel. You say, who needs two male ostriches or two black rhinos in almost similar poses? Ha-ha!! And that veteran hippo is insubmergible! Maybe it's a favorite figurine of some of the Schleich top-managers?? Just joking - profits are apparently on the first place when choosing model range. - WILLYBACOMAN wrote:
-
-The African elephants, they are out of time, and far to small for the scale. -The Asian elephant family, again too old and too small. Try to tell it in another place, Willy! :) - Wildheart wrote:
- My guesses(whitout kinghts and Western):
11)Virginia white-tailed deer family(too many deer families,HELLO!) Too many deer families inedeed, but they've chosen to retire the [more finely crafted] roedeers instead. - Wildheart wrote:
- My guesses Schleich won't retire:
... 3)American bison(children favourite for Western dioramas) 4)Giraffe(again,they want families) 5)Chimps(even if other apes are gone, the chimps still get good grades) Right you are! While I was sure the bison will go, as his calf had done earlier. - Schleichzoo wrote:
- ...
Bald Eagle / Asian Elephant Bull / Male Hippo - these 3 figures are probably the oldest ones in the wildlife series so time for a change. White Tailed Deer family - hopefully a new revised one? I wish Schleich would make a Pronghorn. Older Ostrich and Older Black Rhino - time for a change too.... All of these guys, except the eagle, will be still waiting for their time to come... - Roger wrote:
- When I see 2010 cathalog the fox looks like is trying to go away unobtrusively and the eagle looks like is not landing but preparing to fly away like did the eagle owl!
A brilliant remark, Roger! Your intuition here was 100% right _________________ Owners of miniature zoos on shelves, unite! My collector's blog

| Thank You Torben for finding this list for us About my feelings, I like roe deer family very much so I'm surprised about the schleich decision. Okapi is another surprise-this mean they will probably not make okapi calf this year Other models not surprised me, except some of horses. I must buy Percheron before it disappear. What is strange for me-I can't see hippo in this picture. In my opinion they really should make a new one. |

Probably they just didn't want to show this cart without horse or they have only this photo of this item. |

| I don't think the Clydesdale mare is being retired, there would be a picture of her without the cart if it was so. All the official Schleich pictures of the cart always include the Clyde mare with it, so I think she's just part of the cart picture. |
