| After showing the KAIYODO 2013 Japanese macaque (have a look [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ), it is time to walkaround the 2013 Japanese macaque produced by KITAN CLUB. The context again : Known as the snow monkey, the Japanese macaque (Macaca fuscata) is the most northerly occurring non-human primate. In general, macaques are strong-limbed, medium-sized monkeys with stout bodies. This species has long, dense fur which is brown to grey in colour. The thick fur contrasts with the naked skin of the face and rump, which is red in adult Japanese macaques. It has long whiskers, a beard and a relatively short tail. The male Japanese macaque is larger than the female. In Japan, they are known as Nihonzaru (Nihon "Japan" + saru "monkey") to distinguish it from other primates, but Japanese macaque is very familiar monkey in Japan , so when Japanese people simply say Saru, they usually have in mind the Japanese macaque. The Japanese macaque is diurnal, variably spending the daytime foraging, travelling, socially interacting and resting. It is an unfussy eater and its diet varies with habitat and season. Typically, it feeds on leaves, fruit, berries, seeds, small animals, insects and even fungi. With its thick coat, the Japanese macaque can survive winter temperatures of -15 degrees Celsius. However, it is probably most well known for its habit of sitting in natural hot springs in order to escape the winter extremes. Japanese macaques are also thought to display ‘culture’, where a learned behaviour is passed through the troop. The most famous example of this is where a young female in a provisioned troop began washing potatoes and wheat in sea water. This behaviour was transmitted to other members of the troop and has since been passed on to subsequent generations. And Pics

| Fantastic walkaround!! Thank you Christophe! I love both the Kitan and the Kaiyodo in the first comparison shot. And there are so many gems in the group picture! wow.
I've ordered the Kitan; it's too good to pass over. |

| I like very much this macaque and the new KITAN models, they are really seriously made. Even the oyster is great, that's incredible. This macaque have indeed a very expressive face and IMHO it is better than the already excellent 2013 KAIYODO. The macaque with eyes closed and baby is a KAIYODO, from a "non animal" set but I can't remember which one. |

| The context is always very useful, I didn't know that when Japanese people use the word monkey, it is this wonrderful animal that immediately invads their perception. It is somewhat like when on STS we say macaque we immediately think in... ... ... I forgot it, anyone can ehlp me? Seriously, I love a lot that figure, your pictures are making me wanting it so much. See that pose, a sitting macaque, perfect in balance and for shelves but with a lot of corporal expression, that asymmetry is delicious, the designer is a genius. Face is also wonderful, I wished it was easily available. |

| What a lovely model. I really like his face; they've captured the (oft amusingly) pretenseless solemnity many monkeys have in their facial expressions.
Also, Bloodrayne - it seems that gorilla is eyeing your macaque with no small ire. Perhaps he would have liked to be the center of the picture there.. |

| Looking at your collection, this macaque isn't too small. Compared with yoiur giraffe (which is too small for yoiur collection ) it is toobiG; Sincerely you can go for it. |
