COLLECTA 2016: WILDLIFE - Shoebill (88763)

Here is the stunning Shoebill which has been on the cards for a few years but never made it. One important point - this is the prototype image and the legs have since been thickened slightly as the model would not stand correctly.

Amazing again, i think it will be okay with thick legs also rather than have anything between the legs like the Flamigo figure had. The sculpt is fantastic !!

It looks really nice, one of my favourite birds. Too bad it is so big, the best thing on it was that it has such thin legs, I understand why they will be thicker but can't they put a wire on them?

I think the wire would not work due to costs and also child safety. Anyway the legs have been thickened by 1mm in diameter. It was either that OR grass between legs like the flamingo which I would not have been happy with

I understand, and yes you're right grass betwen the legs would look awful.

You hit the nail on the head. There was so much pressure to get all those other models yet none of them in any particular size matching the common brands so at least we have one now.

A bit of info, you cannot see it in this picture but I have an issue with the left leg which I hope they will correct - it is in a slightly bent position and makes the model look like it is tilting to one side. It's not info to share with the world but I thought you would find it interesting. It is currently being looked at and I hope they rectify it.....

Another release that shows how interesting is CollectA range. Regarding pelecaniformes, every brand makes pelicans, some make and remake and trimake. CollectA has a pair of black-faced spoonbills and now a shoebill but not a pelican yet. I love the figure, obviously also because of these legs, I know 1mm is much more than we think but surely it will stay as impressive as it is now. I have also to confess that my lovely Eikoh is at this moment reducing my enthusiasm with this figure and recalling my wish of seeing CollectA releasing a secretary bird, though, no way, shoebills are too much fantastic to resist and I believe I'll add this one to my collection.

It is a great iniative too and I hope the legs will be thick enough and unwonky... I still have frills and I think about the Papo stork legs

Yes the Bulllyland stork suffers the same illness in the legs

Thanks CollectA to made this fantastic bird - one old dream comes true again.

CollectA was my favorites brand and it looks so this would not change in the future.

I m always very happy when major brands release birds- any kind: and this is a gem - absolutely: another point for Collecta
