Bullyland has been sold again !!!

I just heard that Bullyland has been sold again.

In 2005 Volkmar Klaus, the founder of Bullyland, was 65 years old and sold to Thomas Fischer and some shareholders.

These have now sold to Arthur Ruland, who is the owner of a German trading compagny selling all sorts of stuff like stickers, merchandice, Lego, Nintendo and much more.

The Business Manger at Ruland`s head office tells that they will expand the production of licence products ( I suppose that means things like Disney, Spongebob etc. )

All in all it doesn`t look like happy news for collectors of the animal models

You never know, but maybe now Bullyland could get larger distribution. My wish at least.

Yes, you are right ! It could be an advantage to have an owner who is better at distribution

At least 7 years from now they still produces animal figurines for collectors.

I hope it's a good thing and not that they'll stop making animals

I just have a friend in Germany who sent me a scan of an article in a local paper from the area where Bullyland`s headquater is.

To me it doesn`t sound like the new owner is very interested in model animals, - he wants the compagny to expand away from Schleich, if I read correctly between the lines. Sponge Bob, Cindarella, Little Kittie and such stuff

I hope they will continue to make their stuff in Germany (or maybe other european countries?); I'm sick of the invasion of "Made in China" labels seen everywhere.

Hmmm Yes, but the problem is HOW he is going to expand

There is no indication that it is on the animal model part of the business, - on the contrary, he wants to focus on the "Licence"-part, especially to avoid competing with Schleich.
In Schleich `s 75 years jubilee-book they write that they quit the licence business, because it was too risky and unstable and because the licences ( licences to Disney etc) are too expensive.

So if Mr Ruland doesn`t want to compete with Schleich, there isn`t much chance of him stressing the part that we are interested in

It seems he is going to compete with compagnies like Plastoy etc. instead.

As I see it from Denmark, it is not a very large market. I have never, ever seen one of these Licence-models in Danish toy shops.

I've never seen any bullyland in any toy shop I've been to - I've only seen them online.

Not here either

I was thinking more these comics-models in general. Like from Disney, Sponge-Bob, Pink Panther or such

I can say yoes and i can say no. Because our Karstadt sale Bullyland and Schleich together with different shelves for animals and lizence products. And i dont look for this license products.
