Our friend Patrick posted in its blog what is the first picture of the Carnegi concavenator. The figure was originally planed to be presented in 2012 but it looks it was delayed to 2013. I continue thinking that Safari really delayed some of their 2012 projects and that's why I really also expect a fantastic 2013 year for the North American brand.

You can see more here on very nice Ikessauro blog!

Lol pretty soon you will say "I now collect Safari" lol!

The figure seriously reminds me of their Gigantosaurus and Cryolophosaurus and the tripod pose bugs me.

What a Face Laughing Laughing Laughing

A question, - what is wrong with the tail touching the ground ?
I suppose they did that sometimes...like kangaroos ? Or am I completely wrong ? scratch

Completely wrong! :) it's like a human touching the ground with his hands! No model in that pose can be considered accurate

The tip of the tail can touch the ground, provided the torso is raised at an angle - think of the back and tail as an unbroken line, with no kinks and very little up/down flexion. However, in order to accomplish this the animal would need to assume a pose that would be very uncomfortable indeed, with legs extended and head unnaturally high. The dinosaur wouldn't be able to balance like that without a support, and the tail wouldn't be strong enough to prop it up.
Still, I see tripodism as a forgivable flaw - or artistic licence if you prefer. If the alternative is overly huge feet or models with bases (something I love, but I know it's bad for playability), I'd rather have tripods. Just as long as the tails aren't dragging!

Okay so it isn't just me then. As soon as I saw it, I thought of the Cryolophosaurus.

And regarding 'the balancing act' - isn't there a way they can make these things accurately with a natural pose without them falling over? Tails are meant for balancing in real life so why not take the hint from nature and put some sort of weight in the tails of the figures to keep them on their feet without compromising the pose/ sculpt?

I admire your willpower. Safari produces such beautiful models that I would not be without them. They are not available in Czech Republic so I have to use e-shops and it's quite complicated, but without them? Nope... I can´t do it :) :) :) :)
