| I like this elephant at all (much better than the first Mojo version and all Schleich ones) but the skin texture should be better - is too weird and unnatural... |

| I understand your opinion Susanne, not everything is correct in that figure as Ana also pointed. I am very confortable to talk about that figure once I haven't participated in its development contrarily with what happened in previous years. Ears are probably not accurate but they show that the brand studied the two species of African elephants. We are used with figures that mix the characteristics of both species. Though, while African bush elephants have almost square ears, African forest elephants have them more rounded. Please check the diagram below and also the picture is being used in Wikipedia to illustrate an African bush elephant that is the species that Mojo is presenting. Notice that the draw is not identical to the real female elephant that is also not equal to Mojo figure, but I don't see it as terrible. |

| I think what turned me off most were the texture and blue color. I guess it can be fixed with a bit of paint and sandpaper. |

| I don't need this figure so I don't think I will spend money on this figure. The back looks too short for me and one of the baddest skins that I've ever seen on a elephant figure. I really need to say again looks like a bad year for Mojo, a year saying nothing and come back with so ugly figures. (Except the horse) _________________ Bryan |

| Oh another fab one.. ;P I understand Rogers side, but still think the body is too short an way too small. His proportions are really nice though. Well I was going to get only the awesome orlov anyway :) _________________ Jonas Animals are my friends. I don't eat my friends. |

| It's possible that this is just taken at an odd angle (in terms of the short body look etc.) Not to mention too, sometimes CollectA releases pictures of prototypes that will be altered slightly later, so maybe that is the case here as well. I just don't like the super gray-blue color, and the creases for the texture could be "sanded" a little, but otherwise I think its a pretty good model. This company also has said that they will be revamping older models because they don't quite live up to the quality of their newer ones, so if this year has very little surprise (and who knows) it is because they are just trying to be better. Personally, I don't think I need this particular elephant, but I don't think it's a bad model either. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | This is definitely a huge improvement over the old Mojo elephant in terms of proportions as Roger noted.
However it still misses the mark in terms of accuracy in overall sculpting. The front legs and feet are not that bad, the head looks odd anatomically. The texturing really fails, even though Schleich elephants are dis proportioned they have much better texture and painting.
I'm still waiting for the day when a modern company can actually make a nice elephant replica........I don't think thats going to happen anytime soon. |

| As I told previously, I am not impressed at all. I am only haapy because modern brands finally started making elephants with good proportions and I hope it turns in a fashion. I am really tired of all these chubby elephants. So tired that I don't have them. Fortunately, I've found some joy in some vintage elephants. I am not impressed because not everything looks correct to me but some points are not easy to judge from a catalogue picture in that angle. For example, back looks too straight as Susanne noted, though I need a lateral view from it. I am not also an enthusiast of that texture, I was not already in previous version. Maybe texture, that these days look more important that all the rest, is the reason why this figure doesn't look appealing to some members. The trunk looks nice in my opinion, maybe it should be narrower towards the tip, but much better than what I am used and we know Mojo uses a very dense pvc that is not the best to make delicate parts. I really support the way Mojo entrered with that design to elephant figures and I hope it represents a new generation of good looking elephants. A good texturing and painting, in my opinion, doesn't turn a broad bean in an elephant. :elephant, |

| oh mojo...
I do still like the bear and the bull. I don't collect horses anymore, but the horse is lovely. there are some other perfectly decent figures, but it's true mojo is missing the 'wow' factor that we'd all like to see. Well, so far. I'm sure mojo has something up their sleeve. Just the Macaque and the Pangolin were super exciting for me last year. |

I agree with you, despite the real improvement, too much texture act as a repellent I simply don't understand Mojo choice - elephas_maximus wrote:

| They do, I've never seen such a shetty but Ok. And one question why we every time compare them with Schleich? I think everyone knows now that Schleich doesn't do the best replicas... _________________ Bryan |

| They may not do the best in one's opinion but they are still a current company producing models and are considered a competitor in the major brand of animal models. This is why Schleich is a subforum here, along with Bullyland, Papo, Mojo, CollectA, and Safari. Just because one does not fancy the models of the brand does not mean comparisons cannot be made or that the brand never makes a good model, ever. |

| Yes LeeAnn, that's also my work Bryan, I'm always open to hear the critique. If you could tell me any details that would be changed in head I would be happy to know it. It may be lesson for me for the future I think the painting may not exactly show the head shape in a good light. The line between mane and fur colour is a bit rough and contrast of the photo is very high (we cannot see the top line of the mane too). I will paint my copy this week and take a couple of photos, perhaps it will be easier to shop the head shape. _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Nice. The sculpt is good, but the painting looks without shades. Or comes that from the photo? |

| I think the photo has too much contrast. But it's also possible that painting is a bit flat, I haven't seen it in real so I don't know _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection
