| This year Safari stopped producing the Carnegie dinos, and re-launced some of the old, prehistoric mammals. But they also launched 5 new "dinos" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]For a dino-amateur like me, they aren't madly exiting with the matte paint and dull colours, but they get nicer when you get to know them better Especially I am in love with the Shunosaurus The Shunosaurus was an almost 10 tons plant-eater, which lived in Asia about 180 million years ago. I took Mini-Shuno out on the terasse for picturetaking . He was completely baffeled by the size of the world...and all that FOOD !!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]But he loved the flowers too much ...gosh! Where is he now ??? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Ok. Found him ! Let's start all over indoors : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]He has a VERY long and lively tail. You have to take care when he gets happy and wags, because there are spikes on the tip of his tail [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]But he has the most endearing smile I have ever seen on a dino [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]He is really a handfull, - good that he is tame [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]On most drawings Shunosauruses do not have spikes on the back, but the reconstruction in the Museum in Helsinki shows that they did [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Isn't he a charmer [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I am also fascinated by all the detail of his skin, - and he has the funniest feet [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I hope you like him also. Btw, - what should I call him ? |

| Thanks for the humorous presentation, and congrats with your new pet. It looks like he has hands and thumbs like an ape, is that possible? |

| Thankyou, Roger , - I love my flowers, and am always very happy if I succeed to make them survive during winter, even if it is a terrible mess to have them indoors - Roger wrote:
- ......I think that what makes these hands and feet look strange is that we are used with sauropod figures with terrible looking toes that when we see something closer to reality, it looks surreal to us. ........
This is indeed interesting !! I just made a fast google search, and can see that many paleontologists complain about wrong feet in illustrations I just got up, and our dear Croc already tought me something new ( again) today |

| I love this Safari Ltd Shunosaurus, first because this animal is one of my favorite sauropods, it always looks as a likeable animal to me, don't ask me why please I missed a few years ago a fantastic resin copy made by Galileo because I thought I could wait a bit before buying it, when I decided myself it was too late I'm still inconsolable When Safari Ltd made this little beauty I jumped up and down with excitement... And I still don't buy it, sometimes one can change his bad habits |
