.. but the true gem of the park....it's this white rhino....who belongs to a vanishing species.. For sure every rhino is a gem, but black rhinos are much more vanishing than white rhinos :) Sadly, black rhinos are in the very verge of inminent extinction, at same danger level than Sumatran and Javan rhinos! While white rhinos are only "near threatened", the less threatened of all the rhinos and with the less concerning category of menace in the danger range. _________________ My collection:- (Details):

| You're right Pardo only 5 000 black rhinos versus 15 000 white ones! 30 years ago, they were 30 000 I suppose I had this number in mind!.. the most endangered is the sumatran one with only 80 animals separated in many places :/
So, thanks to you Pardo, I changed a little the text of my little scenery.. :)
Many thanks to you four for your comments and reactions, Andreas, George, Bonnie and Pardo! :) |

| Thank you for this new wildlife story with so many excellent characters I love these giants, I always spend "too much"* time with them at the zoos and I'm really sad to think they will disappear. * dixit my wife

| Many thanks Roger, Christophe and SeanieP for your replies! :) Christophe, my first white rhinos were from the zoo of Lille (july 2015)! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| I always wanted to get those Schleich people but missed them before they retired. Great photos, figures, and story! _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | These are all wonderful. I love how you tell stories with them, and I really love how you use forced perspective to accommodate for size. The fennec and the scorpion photo in particular was a brilliant way to arrange them so the scorpion looked smaller than the fennec, and only larger because of distance. You're great at placing animals in the scene so they look realistic and the proper size! |
