A new, large update. Several packages I was awaiting arrived, and Christmas was also kind to my collection this year. I am still waiting on some happy kin toys sets and some original Cadbury Australian yowies, but they will be in another update later down the line. Visiting relatives for the holidays, I have been temporarily reunited with the majority of my collection, so I have the ability to show some comparisons this time around! I apologize for the bad quality, however, as my camera just doesn't seem to be working as well as usual.
First up, some figures from a cheap lot of modern yowies from mercari, plus one from the recent series that I found myself:
1. Silky Sifaka (Propithecus candidus) - Smaller than I would have liked, but yowies are small.
2. Orange-Bellied Parrot (Neophema chrysogaster) - I have no strong feelings for this version over the science and nature version, they are both nice and I will keep this figure.
3. Kipunji (Rungwecebus kipunji) - Again, small, but that is okay.
4. Wild European Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) - I have no strong feelings towards any figure of this species (the wild variation), so this model fits the bill for me just fine.
5. Numbat (Myrmecobius fasciatus) - I think this model is far superior to the science and nature version, which has always seemed like a chinamal to me.
5. Southern Bent-Winged Bat (Miniopterus orianae bassanii)
6. Strange-Horned Chameleon (Kinyongia xenorhina)

1. Bonin Flying Fox (Pteropus pselaphon) - NTC. Very beautiful and perfect in size. One of my favorites from this update for sure
2. Baikal Seal (Pusa sibirica) - My first Qualia figure. Yes, it is pretty small, but Baikal Seals are small seals and this figure is totally unique and well done.
3. Laysan Albatross (Phoebastria immutabilis) - Kaiyodo. Small for being an albatross but nice.
4. Japanese Water Shrew (Chimarrogale platycephalus) Kaiyodo
5. Naked Mole Rat (Heterocephalus glaber) - Kaiyodo. I know many people like the NTC one and yes, it is nice, but I like this figure more for some reason. I'm very familiar with naked mole rats, I've handled them many times, and for some reason this figure just feels more "real" to me.
6. Six-Banded Armadillo (Euphractus sexcinctus) - My first Eikoh figure. I don't know why my figure is missing the dark lines on the bands, but I don't really mind.
7. Okinawa Woodpecker (Dendrocopos noguchii) - Colorata. I got this figure for a discount because of the lack of a base. Since I am not a base fanatic, I don't mind
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]1. Lehmann's Poison Frog (Oophaga lehmanni) - NTC. This figure is beautiful. This and the gecko were keychains (the seller I bought from priced them cheaper) and I am debating on how to deal with the holes left behind. But I love this figure nonetheless!
2. Frilled Shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus) - NTC. Another favorite of the bunch. I just love the way this shark looks.
3. Chinese Alligator (Alligator sinensis) - Kaiyodo. Yes, this figure is tiny, but it makes up for that in beauty. No detail is spared on this figure, small or no. What a work of art.
4. White's Tree Frog (Ranoidea caerulea) - Kaiyodo. Another figure that is far smaller than I wish it was, but is also beautiful. These are my favorite frogs, I've worked with them before and always wanted some as pets, so this figure is special to me.
5. Schlegel's Japanese Gecko (Gekko japonicus) - NTC. As beautiful as the rest, except for the hole in the nose where the keychain was removed.
6. Carolina Anole (Anolis carolinensis) - Kaiyodo. I've always thought this figure an interesting choice for a japanese company, but it is a unique species.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here are now all of my bats, including the bonin flying fox and the yowies bat, plus the Schleich Gray-Headed Flying Fox (Pteropus poliocephalus), Yowies Livingstone's Fruit Bat (Pteropus livingstonii), Safari Little Brown bat (Myotis lucifugus) and Kaiyodo Copper-winged bat (Myotis formosus):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The armadillo with the Safari Nine-Banded Armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus):

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Next, three figures from the Nayab "realistic" series, which had some real gems, some of which I'm still searching for:
1. Ringed Seal (Pusa hispida) - I have the yowies Saimaa Ringed Seal, but I wanted a regular one as well.
2. Thomson's Gazelle (Eudorcas thomsonii) - This figure replaces the Schleich thomson's gazelle in my collection. Now, I know it may be blasphemy on this forum to replace a Schleich with a Nayab of all things, but I don't care. No thomson's gazelle in the trade really speaks to me, including the schleich, safari, mojo, and whatever other versions. However, I like the laying down pose of the Nayab for something different in my collection, and the painting is not bad either. The Schleich also bothers me because it is not an adult model, while this one is.
3. Slender-Snouted Crocodile (Mecistops cataphractus) - This figure was almost certainly intended as a general crocodile or maybe a nile, but TAI lists it as a slender snout and I like their idea!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here is the gazelle with the aforementioned Schleich model:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here is the Croc with the Schleich Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And here are all of my seals, including both ringed seals and the baikal seal, plus the papo elephant seal (Mirounga leonina), Schleich harbor seal (Phoca vitulina), Kaiyodo bearded Seal (Erignathus barbatus), and Safari Harp Seal (Pagophilus groenlandicus):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I have more new photos, including a colorata set, some Collectible Wildlife Gifts purchases, and others. I will post the second part of this update tomorrow, so stay tuned!
