Very interesting additions, especially the Takin and the grass owl.

So nice you recovered your collecting enthusiasm and that you are waiting for more figures to show.
I am for so long waiting for a roan antelope from a major brand that someday I will get the Noah's Pals because I am tired of waiting. Laughing I don't know why brands ignore the largest antelope, especially because it is an attractive animal and it is not so challenging in terms of manufacturing, they are robuste creatures and they don't have delicate horns. I know it is a 1:24 scale but is it close in size to the sable antelopes of the major brands?
There are also other figures I should consider, like the takin or marmot.

Yes, I don't have my safari sable with me at the moment, but the roan antelope is, I believe, just slightly smaller. It would not be shocking in a collection.

So it is a model with a generous size. Thanks for letting me know.

Roan antelopes (SH126 to 160cm) are bigger than Sable (SH117 to 143cm)

I think we are both aware of the larger size of the roan antelope, here my question is trying to know if the Noah's Pals are not much smaller. If they are slightly smaller than the sables, it works as many other standard sized figures that are not completely coerent in terms of size. Anyway, I still think it is time to see a roan antelope among major brands, Papo should had released it instead of the oryx. I also think we won't live a golden era of antelops as the magical era of 2010's and the last one was the Mojö oryx still before the confinement.

PostSubject: Re: endogenylove's new arrivals!   endogenylove's new arrivals! - Page 6 EmptyWed 17 Nov 2021, 00:10

New Update! Kind of short this time around, but I have many packages on the way right now (I'll talk about that at the end!) The photos aren't great, but it's all I can manage for the moment.

First, a couple of miscellaneous CollectA:
1. African Leopard (Panthera pardus pardus) - In my opinion, this is the best leopard of any subspecies by any modern brand.
2. Ganges River Dolphin (Platanista gangetica) - I've always thought this was a curious species choice for this brand, but I'm glad they did it!
3. Largetooth (Common) Sawfish (Pristis pristis)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

A couple of models from King Crab Collectibles on Ebay:
1. European Hamster (Cricetus cricetus) - Kaiyodo Hamsters Lunch figures are wonderful. I have the base for this figure, but it doesn't fit right and I prefer it without it anyway.
2. Long-Tailed Rosefinch (Carpodacus sibiricus) - I wanted to dive into the Kabaya resin birds, because they have some interesting species. I don't know if I'll be getting more - Don't let this image fool you, these birds are SMALL! However, the detail is very nice for such a tiny figure.
3. Royal Penguin (Eudyptes schlegeli) - I have yet to really start collecting penguins, but this figure is a unique species and therefore its nice to get it out of the way before I go into the more regularly made species.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

A lovely Playvisions addition from our very own WhiteLightning Wolf:
1. Zebra Duiker (Cephalophus zebra) - Duikers are my favorite antelopes, and I so wish they were more frequently made. I still want to track down the Starlux Jentink's Duiker at some point.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The figures I wanted from the Safari LTD Primates TOOB...I have another topic about how poor the quality of these figures is. I am still keeping them, but...this is kind of a disappointment for me. I can link the topic if anyone is interested.
1. Coquerel's Sifaka (Propithecus coquereli) - My figure likes to collapse. It doesn't seem to be able to hold its' own weight up. Also, yes, this figure is very small. But there is no full sized alternative at the moment.
2. Red-Handed Tamarin (Saguinus midas) - The painting on this figure is the worst of the bunch. You can see the issues with the eyes in this image.
3. Emperor Tamarin (Saguinus imperator)
4. Common Marmoset (Callithrix jacchus)
5. Bonobo (Pan paniscus) - This figure is also very small. I might do what some others have done and find the Nayab chimpanzee to use as a Bonobo in the absence of a major brand one.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Finally, I purchased all of the currently available sets from Toy Fish Factory. They make a nice variety of small sized, interesting fish species. I wish I had known about it's parent company, Replica Toy Fish, while that still existed, but I was not so lucky. That being said, these are quite nice!

First up, the American Angler collection. Now, interestingly enough, these figures were made by both companies, and somehow, it seems, I have ended up with some of the RTF paintings and two models whose paintings match neither company? It is a mystery to me how this happened, as all figures came in TFF branded boxes. I have opted not to keep the Largemouth Bass, as I like the Kaiyodo better, but it also is painted like the RTF variety.

1. Striped Bass (Morone saxtalis) - This figure has the RTF painting, which, frankly, I prefer.
2. Black Crappie (Pomoxis nigromaculatus) - This figure is more similar to the RTF painting, but is even better. It has dense spots, making my variety almost certainly a Black Crappie rather than the White variety.
3. Channel Catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) - This figure has the RTF painting.
4. Bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus) - I have no idea what is up with this figure. The painting is dark, and overall more realistic than either established paint variety, but it lacks any sort of visible striping, which I was hoping for with a Bluegill figure.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Here's the Gulf Coast Collection, minus the barracuda which I am torn on. I'm not a huge fan of the painting of this set, but they are unique:
1. Atlantic Tarpon ((Megalops atlanticus)
2. Speckled Trout (Cynoscion nebulosus)
3. Red Drum (Sciaenops ocellatus)
4. Common Snook (Centropomus undecimalis)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Northern Angler Collection, minus the Yellow Perch (I have the Safari Great Lakes TOOB one) and the Smallmouth Bass (I like the Kaiyodo better):
1. Muskellunge (Esox masquinongy)
2. Walleye (Sander vitreus) - I don't like the painting of this figure either.
3. Northern Pike (Esox lucius)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And lastly, the River Monsters collection, minus the Arapaima (I have the beautiful colorata).
1. Goliath Tigerfish (Hydrocynus goliath)
2. Goonch Catfish (Bagarius yarrelli)
3. Red Bellied Piranha  (Pygocentrus nattereri) - I may eventually replace this figure, but it is perfectly fine for now.
4. Giant Snakehead (Channa micropeltes)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And that's all I have to show for now! But, I have so much more coming. I have the Colorata frogs set on the way, Some US Yowies from previous series, a Taobao order with some rarities, a few playvisions (and a few RTF figures!), some Happy Kin Toys sets, and a lot of original Australian yowies all coming in over the next couple of months, so stay tuned!

Excellent new additions! The fish especially are exciting as they were a rare foray into this niche for toy figures.

Great additions, I agree, these fish, or we get or we forget. I have many of the old 3 inches from Replica Toy Fish and I never got these.

Congratulation for your new additions Very Happy

I'm not a fish specialist, far from this, so I limit myself to Kaiyodo or Yujin/Takara ones because they are so beautiful, but I understand Replica Toy Fish is a good brand for freshwater fish toy collectors.

Very nice additions! I have the CollectA sawfish (I think is the best sawfish figure currently available) and the Ganges river dolphin (one of the key figures that made me interested in discover the CollectA brand and start growing a colletion, just because I loved the species choice together with other mighty obscure cetaceans and and antelopes). They're masterpieces and I agree about the leopard, it's very well done and the proportions are very good, and the tail is very elegant.

The hamster is in the very same position that I did my homemade one, tough is much bigger. It's one of the most beautiful rodents! Royal penguin used to be one of my favourite penguin until it was lumped with macaroni penguin. The small resin birds looks very nice and realistic, but still at least this one would be double the size of what I would accept in my collection Very Happy

PlayVisions zebra duiker is a mythical figure, and have the perfect size for such a small antelope, so it fits good with CollectA antelopes.

Some of these Safari toob primates are on my wishlist: the emperor and golden-handed tamarins and overall the common marmoset. But I don't want to buy all the toob only for these figures... Bad paintjob would be not an issue for me since I would repaint them.

Also in my wishlist is the Replica Toy Fish muskellunge. These fishes were available for very cheap, at least some months ago, however the shipping from USA to EU were prohibitive for me so I passed without it.

Congrats for all these nice jewels in your collection! :)

PostSubject: Re: endogenylove's new arrivals!   endogenylove's new arrivals! - Page 6 EmptySun 02 Jan 2022, 01:04

A new, large update. Several packages I was awaiting arrived, and Christmas was also kind to my collection this year. I am still waiting on some happy kin toys sets and some original Cadbury Australian yowies, but they will be in another update later down the line. Visiting relatives for the holidays, I have been temporarily reunited with the majority of my collection, so I have the ability to show some comparisons this time around! I apologize for the bad quality, however, as my camera just doesn't seem to be working as well as usual.

First up, some figures from a cheap lot of modern yowies from mercari, plus one from the recent series that I found myself:
1. Silky Sifaka (Propithecus candidus) - Smaller than I would have liked, but yowies are small.
2. Orange-Bellied Parrot (Neophema chrysogaster) - I have no strong feelings for this version over the science and nature version, they are both nice and I will keep this figure.
3. Kipunji (Rungwecebus kipunji) - Again, small, but that is okay.
4. Wild European Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) - I have no strong feelings towards any figure of this species (the wild variation), so this model fits the bill for me just fine.
5. Numbat (Myrmecobius fasciatus) - I think this model is far superior to the science and nature version, which has always seemed like a chinamal to me.
5. Southern Bent-Winged Bat (Miniopterus orianae bassanii)
6. Strange-Horned Chameleon (Kinyongia xenorhina)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Here is the Orange-Bellied Parrot with some Science and Nature Parrots, the Kakapo (Strigops habroptilus) and Kakariki (Cyanoramphus auriceps):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Here is the chameleon with my only other Chameleon, the CollectA Camaroon Sailfin (Trioceros montium):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The silky sifaka with the Safari P. coquereli:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The numbat with it's more famous extinct relative, the CollectA thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And the Kipunji with some various other old world monkeys, the CollectA Diana Monkey (Cercopithecus diana), Mojo Sulawesi Macaque (Macaca nigra), and Kitan Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Next, a batch of various brand figures from taobao, split into two pictures due to amount:
1. Bonin Flying Fox (Pteropus pselaphon) - NTC. Very beautiful and perfect in size. One of my favorites from this update for sure
2. Baikal Seal (Pusa sibirica) - My first Qualia figure. Yes, it is pretty small, but Baikal Seals are small seals and this figure is totally unique and well done.
3. Laysan Albatross (Phoebastria immutabilis) - Kaiyodo. Small for being an albatross but nice.
4. Japanese Water Shrew (Chimarrogale platycephalus) Kaiyodo
5. Naked Mole Rat (Heterocephalus glaber) - Kaiyodo. I know many people like the NTC one and yes, it is nice, but I like this figure more for some reason. I'm very familiar with naked mole rats, I've handled them many times, and for some reason this figure just feels more "real" to me.
6. Six-Banded Armadillo (Euphractus sexcinctus) - My first Eikoh figure. I don't know why my figure is missing the dark lines on the bands, but I don't really mind.
7. Okinawa Woodpecker (Dendrocopos noguchii) - Colorata. I got this figure for a discount because of the lack of a base. Since I am not a base fanatic, I don't mind Wink
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

1. Lehmann's Poison Frog (Oophaga lehmanni) - NTC. This figure is beautiful. This and the gecko were keychains (the seller I bought from priced them cheaper) and I am debating on how to deal with the holes left behind. But I love this figure nonetheless!
2. Frilled Shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus) - NTC. Another favorite of the bunch. I just love the way this shark looks.
3. Chinese Alligator (Alligator sinensis) - Kaiyodo. Yes, this figure is tiny, but it makes up for that in beauty. No detail is spared on this figure, small or no. What a work of art.
4. White's Tree Frog (Ranoidea caerulea) - Kaiyodo. Another figure that is far smaller than I wish it was, but is also beautiful. These are my favorite frogs, I've worked with them before and always wanted some as pets, so this figure is special to me.
5. Schlegel's Japanese Gecko (Gekko japonicus) - NTC. As beautiful as the rest, except for the hole in the nose where the keychain was removed.
6. Carolina Anole (Anolis carolinensis) - Kaiyodo. I've always thought this figure an interesting choice for a japanese company, but it is a unique species.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Here is the albatross with the only relative I have, the Kaiyodo streaked shearwater (Calonectris leucomelas):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Here are now all of my bats, including the bonin flying fox and the yowies bat, plus the Schleich Gray-Headed Flying Fox (Pteropus poliocephalus), Yowies Livingstone's Fruit Bat (Pteropus livingstonii), Safari Little Brown bat (Myotis lucifugus) and Kaiyodo Copper-winged bat (Myotis formosus):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The armadillo with the Safari Nine-Banded Armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The shrew with my only other Eulipotyphla, the Natural History Long-eared Hedgehog (Hemiechinus auritus):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And here is the alligator with the Safari A. mississippiensis:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Next, three figures from the Nayab "realistic" series, which had some real gems, some of which I'm still searching for:
1. Ringed Seal (Pusa hispida) - I have the yowies Saimaa Ringed Seal, but I wanted a regular one as well.
2. Thomson's Gazelle (Eudorcas thomsonii) - This figure replaces the Schleich thomson's gazelle in my collection. Now, I know it may be blasphemy on this forum to replace a Schleich with a Nayab of all things, but I don't care. No thomson's gazelle in the trade really speaks to me, including the schleich, safari, mojo, and whatever other versions. However, I like the laying down pose of the Nayab for something different in my collection, and the painting is not bad either. The Schleich also bothers me because it is not an adult model, while this one is.
3. Slender-Snouted Crocodile (Mecistops cataphractus) - This figure was almost certainly intended as a general crocodile or maybe a nile, but TAI lists it as a slender snout and I like their idea!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Here is the gazelle with the aforementioned Schleich model:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Here is the Croc with the Schleich Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And here are all of my seals, including both ringed seals and the baikal seal, plus the papo elephant seal (Mirounga leonina), Schleich harbor seal (Phoca vitulina), Kaiyodo bearded Seal (Erignathus barbatus), and Safari Harp Seal (Pagophilus groenlandicus):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I have more new photos, including a colorata set, some Collectible Wildlife Gifts purchases, and others. I will post the second part of this update tomorrow, so stay tuned!
