After all hesitations about sizes, it is good to see all these models in your collection. It is much better like that. There's no size miracles and considering the collecting subject, they're all quite acceptable in this regard. I enjoy also that you don't have a single pangolins to represent all species. It is a fact they are a good number and quite similar but at least you have an African and an Asian. I think now they're correctly represented. Now it is just to use the same for your sloths, a two-toed sloth is missing now since you have a three-toed sloth. Interesting that you have a pair of aardvarks to represent a single species but they look like they are two different animals. Though, it is surprising how they look great together. I also would love to have an AAA aardvark, I think you are aware you have a rarity, I can warrant you that Susanne or Anna (our AAA collector), do not have that figure either. Actually I don't know another regular STS collector owning it. It is like the Play Visions aardvark, SSS yellow-eyed penguin and a few other figures we only know one or just a few samples. I always listen all your musics, I was expecting The Aardvarks or so but Christophe song was good to put me asleep for a while.

Subject: Part 28: Lizards & Amphibians... Thu Oct 21, 2021 11:47 pm
The title is somehow misleading, as I don't really have amphibians in my collection yet, except for that little pink Axolotl. I don't even have any frogs for heaven's sake... Anyway, I really need an Iguana, maybe the new Schleich will fit the purpose if its size is OK. The Frilled Lizard is nice, but could be more colourful. But it was the only one that had the correct size for me. I had retired the Papo komodo because I thought he was excessive, but some months ago I was checking my photos from Attica Park and I noticed this one: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
He reminds me a lot of the Papo model, so he's back in. He's also green-faced.. The Perentie is incredible, I think everyone agrees on this, but I also find the 2 schleich models in this photo really good.
--
*** Now, before I move to the music part, I want to open a small parenthesis here describing the way I choose my presentation, because a "metaphysical" coincidence happened. Normally, I choose the species first and pick up the models. Then I try to find a proper song from my collection, this is the easy part, because I have my collection archived with song titles etc.. The hard part is to find an album cover with the species I present. I do that mostly by memory, although I love to search through my records. But this could take hours, so sometimes I just pick a period and search. This is what I did for my lizards and found accidentally an album I liked but had almost forgot. End of the parenthesis, the coincidence will be revealed in the end of the post. Moving on to the song for today! ***
----
The Veils - Axolotl (2016)
I originally wanted to post the official video of this song, but after much thought I changed my mind because it might be too hard or splatter for some. This version is live but great too, because it comes straight from an episode of one of my top-5 series of all times, Twin Peaks. David Lynch is not only a great director but also a great hound for music. I loved his choice of The Veils appearing in that club, they match perfectly the atmosphere this series is made. Also guys, how often do you hear a song about axolotl? The screaming at the end is the cherry in this pie.
---
My album cover now. As I told in the parenthesis, searching the 80's alternative part of my collection I run to this album by Shriekback, I thought "fabulous" and picked it up. Here it is, with its 3 beautiful Iguana.
Shriekback were a fine new wave band from London, they also had many funk influences in their sound, so it was interesting enough. Their leader was Barry Andrews, formerly of XTC, who is also a sculptor btw. So, after I put my selections on the computer to build up my post, I realized that: Barry Andrews of Shriekback is the father of Tim Andrews , leader of The Veils!! I got accidentally father and son in one post about lizards... What are the chances for this to happen? Really now...

Great figures! The Schleich bearded dragon is one of my favorites. Safari's TOOB frilled lizard is quite a nice figure I think

What a coincidence and what a collection! Komodo dragons are always so well made and the axolotl is great!

That's a great picture to illustrate the pose of the Papo model. This walking style is very typical for Komodos and also some ladies love to walk on an ondulated way. I don't have an axolotl neither a frilled lizard, my collection is poor in this regard. Not even a bearded dragon, I guess. Though, it is hard to resist to a monitor figure, they are the most fascinating lizards and thatt perentie is the supreme masterpiece. I like the song, the cover, the video that is not a video and I will try to watch the official video of that song and if I remember, to take a look at that series too.

Great batch of models. :) I quite like the axolotl, he sticks out but somehow also fits in alongside the frilled lizard and pogona.

If you can accept not to be able to understand what is really happening, it's fantastic. Mystery, crime, noir and surrealistic. Unique.

The Schleich Komodo from 2019 looks better than promotional pics. Also, I didn't know Schleich made a small bearded dragon!

More photos than words today. Although in this batch there are some almost perfect models (like the Chiru or the Jacob Sheep), for me the star of this show is the Schleich Black Sheep with its mean eyes! Therefore, today's song is for the black sheep out there.

I always enjoy comparing choices, not many differences in my collection. I don't have CollectA mountain goat, my muskox is the Maia & Borges but I really want to get the CollectA too. My pronghorn is Safari so no need to get the Mojö but both models have their pros. About domestic animals I don't have that many but I have that black sheep now. Very good song, another I never heard before and it is strange because it sounds like an edible one.

Lovely sheep and goats, I love the texture of the wool on all the sheep, it's generally done really well!

I love the old schleich pygmy billy goat. Great batch! Lots of sheep/goat diversity.

Great batch! I just got the CollectA musk ox, chiru, and markhor in an order last week and they are spectacular! CollectA really makes the best "hooved" animals in my opinion. I love your domestic goats as well

I love your lizards and amphibian! The axolotl is one of my favorites, but I have to say the other sculpts are really phenomenal. The perentie really is beautiful, but that seems to always be the case with that brand that I have been seeing. I also love the beardie, I love that it has a wild animal look to it, and not a pet (since I have only ever met them in person as quite docile and a little chunky pets).

Haha, brutal Easter bad habits... Pronghorn is sullen because Roger told him that his closest relatives live in Africa and have long necks. It's a "I don't fit anywhere" personality crisis time for him.
