Onza exist, I found one!.. Very Happy

.. on a flea-market, last sunday. As soon as I saw him , he made me think to a Nayab cheeta I already have:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

.. but the mold is different:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Because of their resemblance I think this onza is from Nayab too.

Why onza? I suppose Nayab used a cheeta mold to obtain a puma an so created a cheeta-like puma. This cat, for a long time regarded as a criptid, lives in mexican state of Sinaola. He was known by some skulls and was considered as a puma separated species til one was shot in 1986 whose genetic analysis proved he just was a slender and fast runner puma sub-species.

here the youg female killed in 1986:

.. and released in Sinaola wide spaces:

Caracal's finds - Page 13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Caracal's finds   Caracal's finds - Page 13 EmptySat Mar 30, 2024 9:31 am

Those multiple sets we find on Nayab official website, they show colored figures naturally but all of them are just color references. Since Nayab produces to other brands, these molds are offered in several different colors. Namely their felines since most show similar shapes. An interesting example is the "Realistic" tiger which was already used for a leopard. It is even more common among those small figures an they are so many that it is hard to track them all. So, I believe you're right and a cheetah mold was used for a puma. We don't have all Nayab listed on TAW and the only puma there is again the one from the "Realistic" series. So, I suppose the other feline figures are used for pumas whenever a custommer asks for one. Sometimes some of the figures are quite ambiguous and what seems to be just lack of talent to capture the essence of an animal, it is more a way to turn the mold more versatile.
About the word onza, Latin Americans use it to several felines, namely jaguarundis, pumas and jaguars. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see this figure as the obscure onza.

The Exmoor mysterious big black cat exits, I found one!..

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

 .. on a flea-market last sunday! Laughing

Would it be a sheeta melanistic form?.. or a sheeta-like melanistic lion as could indicate its short mane and tip tail tuft?

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

here with the now well known forest melanistic lion:

No doubt further researchs will bring us some answers! Very Happy

With a brush at the tip of the tail it was supposed to be a lioness but it doesn't look like a lioness at all. Laughing The shape is closer to a cheetah but the tuft of the tail is bushy, not brushy. Wink The head might look like a cheetah too but the facial elements not. It is Bagghera. Laughing

yes a melanistic sheeta looking but a bushy tail tuft , little mane around the neck and sharp ears.. when I saw him I immediatly thought to mysterious Exmour big black cat supposed to be an escaped puma or black panther or.. a still unidentified species!.. Shocked

As you explained so well upper, a same chinese production can be painted in different pattern and colours to get species. But even if the first intention was a lion or a lioness, the result was rather strange! Laughing

Christophe is perfectly right, there is a cryptozoologic wave on Languedoc by these times! Very Happy

 .. and to continue..

I think I found on the same flea market last sunday, the original type of this mysterious canid I customized on Dire Wolf some years ago:

It is the one on top left, in a rubber plastic. He received a rather good painting and we can distinguish fans in his low jaw.

Maybe could we open a cryptids section on SUY! Very Happy
