| That Story Andreas is telling is still from the time of the Holy Roman Empire. Paige, I love so much all these species and red river hogs are still so scarce. Our friend [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is the first member I remember when the K&M red river hog pops up and CollectA's is still my single representative in my collection. |

| Thank you my friends! @Annette, that is the PNSO hog. A lovely figure. @Andreas, I have found that happens to me too sometimes! Almost like a fairytale. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], I wasn't around back then I don't think but thinking on it... I have been on forum a long time! It simultaneously feels like forever and just yesterday I was a teenager nerding out on my hobby online when I stumbled upon on this village... and I never left! _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | On my website, The Curious Compendium, the page for African mammals has joined the Asian and Oceanian mammal pages and is now live! *please pardon minor issues like spacing... its been a long week with personal and work related tasks* **please continue to point out other mistakes as you notice them. It helps a lot!** [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]First update for the category will be posted tomorrow morning as early as I can manage. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Love the new pages added! I like the format and how you list the brands. Great way for someone to see same species compared with one another.

| Thanks Jolie. And now we move to South America! This should be a much shorter trip (sadly). Maybe 1-2 weeks of images. First up, maned wolves! [url="https://postimg.cc/cKNFTz0v"] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/url] It is the only member of its genus Chrysocyon (and it is NOT a true wolf nor a fox). They have strong smelling urine (almost like the spray from a skunk); it gets its odor from chemicals in the plants and insects it eats. They can have a diet up to 50% of plant matter and even have a fruit named after them; the Wolf Apple (they play an important part in this plant's life cycle). Lastly, they can be melanistic in color (Google it! Gorgeous animals). _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | The left side is the Safari model. It doesn't get much love sadly but I actually like it a lot. :) _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], that is my newest addition and a gift from our dear friend Kelly. Its the K&M/Wild Republic polybag model. Of the 2 modern models, I personally prefer the Safari, I think it pulled off the species face better. But that is only my opinion if course, and no insult to the CollectA. :) My favorite group of monkeys: Tamarins! (specifically Emperor tamarins are my favorite but I do love them all). [url="https://postimg.cc/NKGfyn78"] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/url] Some intriguing facts I just learned: They are so named as their mustache resembles that if the German Emperor Wilhelm II. This species and the saddleback tamarin appear to have a very close cooperative relationship (splitting the forest canopy habitat, warning each other of danger, and even sharing food!). Lastly, apparently 2/3 of the female population can see in 3 colors (called trichromacy) which better enables them to identify ripe fruit while others of the troops (males and 1/3 of females) only see 2 colors (dichromacy). _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | So nice to see Sergey around! I confess my preference for the CollectA maned wolf, it was a big joy for me when they decided to release it. I have the larger Safari one, it is artistically a very respectable piece and in certains aspects it gets the spirit of this weird creature in a more efficient way. Though, CollectA's remains more consensual. |

| Thank you Roger and Andreas! Next are my tapirs! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]My fun "fact" for this group will be for my custom repaint Kabomani tapir (top far right). Kabomani is the local word for tapir. Currently this animal is hotly debated by science with some claiming that it is a distinct species, and others saying it is only a subspecies or color morph of the Brazilian tapir (recent genetic analysis seems to support this idea). _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Thank you Luke. :) Now the squirrel monkeys! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]These guys are some of the smartest monkeys out there, they have a large brain size to body size ratio. They are unique amongst New World monkeys because their tail is NOT prehensile! These monkeys are known to urinate on their hands and feet; this is thought to be a method of marking territory as the scent would be applied to any branches etc. they use to travel. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. @Andreas, the Malayan tapirs were shown with the Asian Mammals category. But it is a tapir too My collection for mammals is split (roughly) by continent. So the Asian tapirs were shown with other Asian mammals, and these South American ones are shown with their fellow neighbors. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Thank you Fernando. I hope to find the rest of the Chap Mei troop someday. Next up are spectacled bears! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]These bears are habitually arboreal; their front legs are longer than their rear legs and this helps with climbing. They largely dine on plant material and their teeth are designed for this; only about 5% of their diet is animal protein! If you know of Paddington Bear, he is supposed to be this species. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs.
