Quite a few of my models are named after lesson pony's I used to ride.
Freckles was the name of the first pony I ever rode and she was also a flea bitten grey like the Schleich Arabian mare who I named after her (although the real freckles was much smaller than an Arabian as I was only 4 when I started taking lessons  [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])

Monty has such a sweet face I'm glad Fred had a wonderful home, even if it was not with you. I always tell myself Johnny found a good home, too, but I have no idea.

I remember absolutely hating the Andalusian mare as a kid, specifically because of her braids.
(I used to like pretending my horses were wild and she ruined the aesthetic for me)

Mickey was named after a horse another girl at the riding school I used to go to used to ride. He was extremely frisky and the pose of the Lusitano just made me think of him. So nothing to do with “The Mouse” at all

Horses of Schleich's best era... Kind of nostalgic even though I can't really remember the time when they were released.
The Andalusian foal was the first foal in my collection and my model is actually made in Portugal. Interesting that they were produced in more than two countries.
I actually never liked the 2009 Andalusian mare either because of her braids as I always thought that she would look less "Andalusian" because of that. This breed is known for their thick and wavy manes and the braids just ruined it for me. That's why I still prefer the 2014 Andalusian mare, even though she might be less detailed and realistic overall. But her buckskin colour is just wonderful...
And of course the 2009 Friesian stallion. He was my biggest horse grail and I was endlessly happy to achieve it. For an absolute Friesian fan this model is simply a must have just as his family.

I remember buying Diamond specifically because of how differant she looked from Sapphire who I had already owned for a few years at that point, + the fact she was made in Portugal which was so unusual at the time since all my others were either from China or Germany.
I know there are people who like to collect duplicates of each model that are made in all the different country's but honestly that seems like too much effort/money to me. I'm happy just having one of each model regardless of where it was made.
