Today I'd like to introduce you to my smaller-scale collections. Beyond the 1/50 scale, I've collected a few animals that are very dear to me. I've grouped them into 4 series, even though they all live on the same floor: 1/60, 1/72, 1/87 and 1/115.

As usual, you can also have a look at my [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] floors of my collection. cheers

First of all, the 1/60 scale, which is rarely used except for a few rare maquettes. The closest conventional scale is 1/64. I prefer 1/60 because it allows me to collect 20 animals instead of 9.

Africa: Eikho Hippopotamus and White rhino, Safari Ltd White rhino

Australia: I didn’t want to let a poor Hausser kangaroo alone so I added the Kaiyodo Megalania

The 1/72 scale was very popular among wargamers and diorama enthusiasts in my youth. The brands Airfix and Atlantic were available in all toy shops at the time. Airfix made two boxes of zoo animals plus a Tarzan box. Although I no longer own any of these figures, this scale allows me to present the blue whale in good company. Papo's model is pretty good, despite the weird colours, and unfortunately I don't have the funds to find the 1/35 Kaiyodo Sofubi Blue whale.

Ocean: Colorata Killer whale, Papo Blue whale, CollectA Shastasaurus and Humpback whale, Haolonggood Megalodon and Kaiyodo Archelon

1/87 is the HO scale for model train enthusiasts. Many of the animals were produced as decorative elements by Preiser, Van Petergem, Faller, Merten and Noch.   My collection is limited to 16 animals

Finally, I'd like to introduce the 1/115 scale. It's not an official scale, but it's allowed me to group together 7 small models for which I have some fondness.

Ocean: Kaiyodo Minke whale, Elasmosaurus and Steller sea cow, Colorata Whale shark and M+B Right whale

Cretaceous: Kaiyodo UHA Saurolophus and Kaiyodo feathered Tyrannosaurus rex.

The whole team.

Wonderful photos again! Thank you.
Do you maintain a list of all your figures where you keep track of their sizes and scale?

I have 5 lists for my different collections ( Modern by scale, vintage plastic, vintage metal, vintage composition and the unexpected one).

My Modern by scale one keeps track of the ninimum and maximum scale for each model, the assigned shelf, the geographic or historic data, the brand and the name in French. I'd like to add the scientific name but I never do that because I've always got something more important to do.

I love when you show extreme size differences at the same scale. So cool when you dwarf an elephant!

Very impressive.
Who knew a hobby collecting animal figures could be such hard work! Laughing
I admire your perseverance.

To be honest, keeping a file up to date isn't the hardest part, but taking photos takes up infinitely more energy and free time.
