What are you guys talking about????? Shocked This pose is perfectly normal for black gnu... walking or running... this is normal pose and i love it!! I don´t see horse in it at all! Very Happy Very Happy scratch

I agree with Martin but I also see what Roger means. What he is essentially saying is that the trotting style of the Gnu has been done before but in horses so as soon as you see the Gnu you can think of Horse models in a similar pose. I see what you mean Roger but I promise you this was not designed or has nothing to do with Deborah - she only designs the horses for CollectA. The pose was taken from a photo and some drawings of a Gnu.

Also I realise something, the photo of the wildebeest and capy are of the prototypes and these are more detailed. A little of this detail is lost once the commercial plastic model is made so please be aware of that. Even though many CollectA models have been finalised some of them have not had their plastic versions created yet like the Giraffe and Okapi. Will keep you posted.

Anyway it is great to see all of us chatting, sharing and debating! Not every figure will be pleasing to everyone and we can all pick out negatives and faults but that is fine - we just want the best and CollectA is taking note.

I cant wait to get this Gnu! I want ten in my collection! lol

Numaan, you are a clever man and I apreciate it! cheers CollectA is improving a lot with your colaboration and also all collectors! Wink
It's always wise to hear all the comments mainly when a "guy" make it in a polite way like I do;Laughing :)
If it was a Deborah's work it was nothing wrong in it. My last and short comment about the pose is:
Gnus don't walk or run like horses!
Be careful with draws but even with the drama touch I'll buy surely the figure! Very Happy

For example, we agree that the Papo crocodile is full of personality but the pose is impossible.
In my point of view a figure only is full of personality when it has the correct personality, a macaque with croc personality doesn't work as well as a crocodile with macaque personality! Laughing ;)Have you got my idea? monkey

I agree the PAPO croc is as false as the PAPO Komodo dragon Wink Laughing

Hey some of these photos are really nice. I dont know why but i love Black Wildebeest, there is something mysterious about them. I think because their faces are always hidden behind their bears and horns so cannot really see their facial expressions. Love them.

And yes Roger you are a very nice and polite guy so keep talking from the heart, no worries! :-)

OK I see discussion is really very interesting Very Happy Roger I understand that this antelope may look too graceul but the way it's running looks correct. I also think white tailed gnus move like horses. Actually horses may run in several different gaits and I think only the gait typical for hares and rabbit is not in use in that specie (from 4 legged animals of course Razz ). And even on photo which You send gnus running like horses-gallop or canter, just they are all in different phase than the CollectA one. I think this picture shows nice gallop with all it's phases, You can easily find the phase which is on on the photo from the savanna:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I marked certain phases in different colors, so You can find each phase on pictures :

Roger, I think it's great that You like talk about figures, I think it's good and it's always good reason to talk about animals. I hope You don't mind my 2 cents in this discussion Embarassed cat

Of course I don't mind, Ana! I love it, mainly when made in a coerent way as you are doing. flower Very interesting imput! It is interesting seeing people that don't agree with me because don't see nothing like a horse in that figure and people showing me that gnus moves like horses! Hard to understand. I don't see any picture with a graceful movement as in the figure, only the legs in the same pose. I saw the pictures of the CollectA black gnu even before being posted here and I studied carefully the usual movement of the species. As I told before it is not an impossible pose but an unusual pose. I'm clever enough to see what all of you mean and I'll accept that a window is not a door even we can run away from it! :)

Thank You for the kind answer Roger! cat flower cat flower

I thought You meant pose of legs and that was why I searched examples. If not the gait (leg positions?) You meant then maybe neck and head? I think neck could be in lower position and head bigger to make it look more typical. Was that what You mean? :)

OK :) I think I start to understand Very Happy Then what would You change in the pose of the figure? I'm asking just because I'm curious Embarassed What a Face

Anna, you are a talented artist and you know that a pose is much more than the position of legs! I also can put my harms and legs n a quadrupedal pose like this gnu but it is not the same thing.
Unfortunately my wife is saying that I'm silly and don't want to take a picture of myself! Crying or Very sad Laughing
Christophe helped me a lot with his pictures. You see that the gnus running have a very heavy balance. They project the heavy mass of the front towards the floor and the back only follows the movement, sometimes with the two back legs paralel and sometimes spreed but always as a consequence of the strong movement and not of a graceful and coordinate walking. The plastic figure looks very light, almost flying like a pegasus! santa That's a beautiful effect, I agree! Of course a bigger head and in a lower position would contribute to this impression, also maybe a more massive body and maybe shorter legs! But it is very hard to see from only an angle. Rolling Eyes

about the debate:I agree to Joan's Post.
No matter how perfectly sculpted a figurine is, a weird move or some wrong details and suddenly the whole impressive naturalness is reduced.
In my opinion, the move may be correct, bu to me it's a gnu startng with tha move, not already running for a while as it should be to act like that.
But another opinion:
with such horns sculpted, Collecta should be the brand to do the next an best wisent!
Please!
