| Harriet, I think Schleich's lying lioness looks more like a puma than a lioness.. _________________ Born to be Wild and Free!

| Yes, Schleich's lying lioness looks a little puma'ish. I think the sculptors should look more at photos(of the animal they are making) and try to make the figures as realistic as possible!

Yes I know very well that lion... It's the avatar of a collector from Portugal I was reading at the same time a tread about Schleich zebra paintings and I forgot to say that this is a very heavy hard plastic from Hing Shung... but is too bad! |

Not at the Papo scale but this one is IMHO very fine and realistic too The 2009 KITAN CLUB lion from Japan [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Yes, I like that japanese company lion, needs a darker mane, and it's pretty small, but very nice! Would like to see it as big as the Papo male lion!

| Like I have said before(til I'm blue in the face) do a "Pride set", with a group of lions(basically the previous Papo lions, just in different positions ex: resting/head up/looking etc.). Playmobil does a nice set(I don't collect Playmobil because not as detail and realistic looking), however they do make some nice other sets as well(African water hole, zoo etc.). Papo should look at some of their sets and make them Papo style! |

Hm, do you think so? To me the new Safari lion seems too cartoonish at the preview picture. |

In the second part of this video you'll see a big female matriarch hyena, a lioness and lion. Nice to see that spotted hyenas are ugliers than Papo one and still has a size diference with lions! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Ugly or not, I love lions and hyenas equally! The movie 'Lion King' depicted hyenas as evil - this is not true. Lions look "majestic," I agree, but both animals do the same thing: eat to survive and get rid of competition. _________________ Born to be Wild and Free!

Well Kyril, I only see the small pic on the preview catalog and it looks not worse than Papo. I've got aproblem with modern male lions, I still don't find the one who will break my heart. To be honest, the only modern lion I love very much are the two Papo lionness. Evreything is so fine with her that it is hard to find a male who can stand with her. In 2010, I have a hope with the CollectA, because it looks more "savage" and feline in the catalogue but I changed my mind when I saw pics of a real one here. I will probably buy the CollectA lionness because I need more of them. About Safari Ltd, every model I bought from the last two years were better than the pics and a lot of models convinced me more than the Schleichs. The same for the scale, Safari and Papo are sometimes at the same scale. I don't want to collect too much lions and I only want a clan among the modern models, if the Safari is not good, I will buy the Papo then. But, where there is hope, there is life |

| Thanks Kikimalou! They also should make smaller versions of the Siberian tiger, African elephant, hippo, gorilla and orang! Basically to the Papo scale of their lions, tigers, except hippo should be slightly bigger than their figure as well as the gorilla should be just a little bigger too(than previous one). |
