I googeled it, and it seems that in USA they use pacing standardbreds for "Harnes-racing" In Scandinavia we only have racing in trot or galop I am not sure I loke the way they make them pace [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| They don't make them pace, some Standardbreds do this naturally (and such horses are more popular in the USA). The harness just prevents them from troting, as it's against the rules _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Blog | Facebook |

| Have you ever noticed how much Standardbred horses look like each other, while English Thoroughbreds have more variations in their coat colors and white marks? That is because Standardbreds all come from the same stallion (Hambletonian), while English Thoroughbreds originate from four stallions, back in the 18th century. The bloodlines of the Standardbreds are a lot narrower than the English Thouroughbreds'. |

| I never knew that, probably because I think I never saw a Standardbred. In Germany we have trotting races (not pacing) and Trotters come in all sizes. There are no Pacers at all, but people like Trotters für leisure riding, because quite a lot of them can do the Tölt. |

Been there, done that! My collection out-grew the horse/work room so there are as many, if not more, in the living room, kitchen, front bathroom, master bathroom, dining room and master bedroom. Presently there are 25 horses above & around my computer, 55 in the china horses' cabinet, 2 above the desk at the far end of the dining room, 5 in the corner china cabinet, and big herd of horse ornaments hanging on the chandelier. I've long since lost count of the ornaments, but I <think> there's at least 35. I'll see if I can find a picture of it. |

Actually a lot of different breeds went into the Standardbred. Morgans, Hackneys and TBs along with a few breeds no longer around (Narragansett Pacer & Norfolk Trotter). Hambletonian's great-grand sire was Messenger who was a grey TB, so there would have been greys in his line. I have seen photos of pinto Standardbreds (mostly in Australia) and have a few fuzzy (taken in a barn) photos of roans. So, while most are bay, brown or black, they also come in pinto, roan, chestnut and grey. |

| [quote="sortepletter"]Yes please I'd love to see that I can't find the old picture so I'll have to take a new one. But the next problem is I don't know how to get the picture from our Picasa program to this site. I read the FAQs, but it implies I have to move pictures from some online site to this one and we don't have such a site. I suppose I could email the photo to someone and they could post it..... |

| Perhaps one of our admins can help? I've got a new Breyerfest Special. It is called Champagne Toast and came wrapped in a blue plastic bag so one could not see what was inside. But when I unwrapped it, I did not find the one I expected [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Haha, thanks LeeAnn! When I opened the bag I was totally disappointed and thought the vendor sent me the wrong horse. And then I googled the silver one and started to smile. I think now I'll need a PayPal account to sell it in the US - in Germany it'll probably fetch around 50 Euros. Today I got another ordinary (booooring) Breyer. Here the new "Tristan" meets the residents. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

I read the FAQs, but it implies I have to move pictures from some online site to this one and we don't have such a site. I suppose I could email the photo to someone and they could post it..... You can e-mail your pictures to me or to any other moderator. Though, I believe you can use Picasa to post here. Just go to your Picasa website. Choose the picture, click right mouse butoon over it and choose the option "copy picture address" from the menu. Then, on forum, where youwrite your message, you can find on top several little icons, using your mouse over them, you'll find what they are, please click the one that reads 'insert image', a little box will openclick right button of your mouse in the line under URL, and select paste from the menu. Ignore all the rest and just click the insert button. Either it results in a code or in a picture, it means that the picture is already in your post, just click preview to check if it is showing as you expect. If it is correct, just click send and your picture will be posted. Much easier to do than explain, you can also follow Magda's suggestion. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any doubts.
