| Ah, all those beautiful reptiles - pure eyecandy! Thanks for sharing I can also add a few more informations and pictures. There have indeed been TWO editions of the poison dart frogs!! The elder one, from 1996, has the proper (some of them have changed since then, though) latin names on the bellies. The second edition has (often mislabelled) english names: Those are the first edition from 1996 (the names are taken from the bellies): [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And here a comparism of two frogs from both series: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Maybe this happened with other sets too? Anyway here's a picture of the yet missing item from the Insects set. It's labelled Praying Mantis (although the insect experts said it was a Spiny flower mantis nymph - and indeed it doesn't look like a praying mantis): [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]But the catch of the day was this little fella I never saw before and didn't know about - a Clown Fish. Not the Clown Coris (which PV also called Clown Fish) of the coral fish series, but a real "Nemo". [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Sorry, the detail picture is blurry, I try a better one tomorrow. Wonder which set it could fit? It is another one from 1998, I already have either the Manta or the Eagle Ray that doesn't fit any sets (maybe even both). And there is also a sawfish I know about. Maybe those (and the mentioned deep sea fishes) belong to one single set - could be settled in Great Barrier Reef? Anyone heard of something like that? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]So there are still some orphans without a home set. Besides this Manta Ray there's a lioness I don't know yet where it belongs to: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Play Visions still has many secrets to solve... |

| According to this great snake set shown here, I found a coral reef set ("Reiseziel Korallenriff"), maybe referring to Great Barrier reef? This made me find out that the eagle ray belongs here and probably not to the Galapagos set. More likely Galapagos would have the manta ray then. I replaced the picture. Eventually the parrot fish and the tiger shark are doubtful, too (although they occur there). [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I doubt we will ever find out about every set and every species PV made. I really wish someone would have a catalogue! I also got the saw fish that was shown some posts above and was declared PV. Mine looks identic, a wonderful model, but is "CHINA" only. I don't know if mine it is just a lookalike or if the person that called it a PV was wrong... |

| Thank you, Andreas! I found some more pictures of PV animals I haven't seen yet on a different forum and nicked them - but I couldn't resist... I want to thank the author dinocat62, although I didn't ask him for permission (I'm no member there). Maybe someone who is member at The Animal Toy Forum could do this for me, please? Here is the frogs and toads set that I knocked the background and the poison dart frogs out; I took the names from the author of this photo. One remarkable thing is the horny frog/toad. It seems that there are two totally differently painted versions? The one at the right is the one I knew about yet, but the one from the photo seems to be green with spots. (and a part of the corrobee knee is covered by a part of a poison dart frog I couldn't remove) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]here are four of the wasp/bee set: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]here is a set of fishes that according to the author of this photo are all from Play Visions: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Same with the spiders here, there are obviously more than the set I have known yet: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Yeah, Only about half those fish are PV fish, and I don't think all the spiders are. |

| Yes I believe you are right - at least about the fishes, because I remember I had two or three of them once, too: CHINA only (and a number if I remember right).
As for the spiders, someone told earlier in this thread that there would have been more than one spider set. But I have never seen another one than that "Spiders & Tarantulas" set of which there was posted above a picture from the catalogue. (And I wonder why they should have made so much spiders of all things ...) |
