| I hope no one minds if I put up another walkaround. (And, I know, it's another cutesy mother-and-baby model ... indulge me.) I just got another batch of Schleich, one of which is the Koala. I like the figure and I think it may now be my favorite Koala model. So here is a brief walkaround, then some comparison pictures with the Mojo, the old Schleich, and the Safari. (I should have taken a comparison picture with the Science and Nature model and the Colorata model as well. My bad. Maybe sometime in the next few days I'll add some photos.) Schleich's 2013 Koala Bear with Baby (14677): [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here it is with the older, retired Schleich Koala (14303) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Now with the Safari Mother and Baby (on the back) model: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And finally, next to the Mojo Fun model, which turned out to be much bigger than I expected when it first arrived. Its size is very much on display here. Honestly, I quite like the modest size of the new Schleich 2013 model. And I think they've done a nice job of capturing the adult's face. | She looks awesome Scott! I like this model and will probably get it since I only have the older Koala from Schleich in my collection and he could use a family, but I don't like her legs. May be it is just me, but would have liked it better if they weren't so tucked in. But as usual, great pics again! |

First Scott, thank's a lot for opening new walkarounds or reviews. It is very well made, very pleasant and useful. I would be very sad if you stop doing this and I wish you will do more and other members too (o)): And now let's talk about the new SCHLEICH koala. When I saw the commercial pics, I instantly put that model in the "Not for me" batch and forget it. But your pics and comments are giving it justice. I like the size and the heads are really fine, not only the mother's, the baby is well done too. No, I'm tempted... It is already a big step Could you share more pics of the legs ? |

Please, make comparison picture with S&N koala. I wanted to buy AoA model just because it's small, if Schleich is similar size I'll take that one instead, it's easier to find... _________________ Robert

| That's a nice koala. Thank you, Scott. Nice walkaround and even better the comparison pictures! (o)): I like the face on the adult koala and the colour is perfect, also I like the size very much! (o)): And she seems kinda chubby or is she pregnant again? I don't like that they keep making babies attached to adults. (last year gorilla with baby, this year chimpanzee, swan and koala, what's next? crocodile with baby on it's back?) _________________ Bojan

I am definitely on a very maternal wave. (I really am.) Partly, though, it's my wife who is really loving the mother-baby pairings right now. I would prefer cross-species pairings: baby chimps riding on the backs of Bongo, baby Bongos clinging to the back of a Hippo. Schleich needs to shake things up! - Kikimalou wrote:

Christophe, I will definitely take more pictures of the legs. There is an angle in the walkaround that I missed that would have been helpful and I'll photograph the bottom of the model too. Paige, I agree, they are a bit too tucked in. The faces of both mom and baby are really excellent. But the figure, overall, is kind of a lump. - skysthelimit wrote:

Robert and Roger, absolutely, I will definitely take more comparison pictures and show the new Schleich with the S&N model and then with the Colorata. Robert, I can tell you right now that the S&N model is slightly larger than the new Schleich, but I could be remember incorrectly and, in any case, I'll shoot and post pictures the next chance I get (soon). |

| For Robert and Roger, here are additional comparison shots between the new Schleich Koala and baby and the Small-sized Koala by Science and Nature (Animals of Australia) and the Koala (and baby) in Tree by Colorata. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Next up...feet! (for Christophe) |

| Thank you for the pics Scott I can't see the big problem with them, maybe someone could explain me ? as always with SCHLEICH, I will wait to see it in real life before buying but, again, your pics already changed my mind about it |

| Amazingly the little baby baboon died of the cold, not the leopard. I found it amazing to see how well a 1 day old baboon can climb a tree. And to get back on topic: I really like this koala, and I understand they wanted to add the "cute" factor for sales reasons. But I rather have the choice of buying any mama animal and their youngsters seperately. |

Just let Schleich know how popular is that video about Lagadema and that is just a question of time.
That's a great National Geographic documentary! I like the clip with Legadema and the baby baboon. Thanks for posting that Roger. So sad, and touching, and, frankly, kind of disturbing (because you know it doesn't have a good ending...the baby surely couldn't have survived very long).
Thank You for sharing Roger
Interesting and so surprising video but as You said Scott, it probably will have sad end for the baby baboon I am glad you enjoyed the video, this part of the story is even more impressive when we see the complete documentary. Lagadema, as a baby leopard, had a terrible experience with baboons. According with the camera man, the baby hasn't survived but such a short life and a beautiful story to tell. By the way, for The Lion King fans, narrator is Scar! |
