What also is very interesting, is that everytime I compare a German Shepard with a Wolf, their characteristics come closer and closer, which results how wolfs domesticated in to dogs, hmm.
I take them from this change scheme:
Wolves --> Huskies --> Dingoes --> Shepards
Hmm, I think there is a pattern somewhere Hmm, actually the modern German shepherd is a fairly recent breed. Different herding dogs from Europe were used to establish the "German shepherd", combining their best characteristics. But yes, many of them had lupine (wolf-life) characteristics. However, from a genetic point of view a Chihuahua is as close to wolves as a German shepherd. By contrast, from a mere morphological point of view, the dog breeds closest to wolves are breeds established using wolf-dog hybrids, such as the Czechoslovakian wolfhound, the Italian Wolfdog, the Chinese Kunming dog, etc. These dogs actually have "wolf" blood in them, even if now it is very diluted. Interestingly enough, there's also a theory, not widely accepted, according to which dogs did not evolve from wolves but from dholes (Asian wild dogs). The most widely accepted theory about dingos, nowadays, is that they were once domesticated dogs who at some point became feral. _________________ My collection gallery!

| Congratulations for your new dogs! forgeting a little genetics, in Portugal shephards are popularly known as wolf breed, it means that people here found it also similar to a wolf even if it is only superficially. I think Tylo, as a collector of wolves, is studying the hypothesis of collecting shepherds and huskies! |
