CollectA Dinosaur refrence guide - Page 8 Empty
PostSubject: Utahraptor Walkaround   CollectA Dinosaur refrence guide - Page 8 EmptySat Feb 16, 2013 4:53 am

Basic Facts
Utahraptor was among the largest of the Dromeosaurs, as it was big enough to take on the Sauropod Astrodon. It lived in the early Cretaceous period in Utah(as its name suggests) and likely hunted in Packs. Right now, there is only one known species from this genus, and it was originally going to be called Speilbergi, after Jurassic Parks Director Steven Spielberg. This name was thought of, because the Velociraptors were oversized but Utahraptor was found a year after the films release, and it was miraculously the same size of the Velociraptors shown in the movie. Unfortunately an agreement was not made for the name, so it is called Utahraptor Ostrommaysorum instead.  Some specimens were found to be over 23 feet long, but they await further studies.

PostSubject: Nothronychus Walkaround.   CollectA Dinosaur refrence guide - Page 8 EmptySat Feb 16, 2013 8:54 pm

Northronychus was the old American Cousin of Thirzinosaurus, and is known from more complete remains, allowing scientists to picture what Thirzinosaurus also looked like.
Like all Thirzinosaurs, Nothronychus was a herbivore who used its long scythe like claws to pull down trees so it can eat there leaves, and they are still capable of inflicting some serious damage on any would be attacker.

PostSubject: Re: CollectA Dinosaur refrence guide   CollectA Dinosaur refrence guide - Page 8 EmptySat Feb 16, 2013 9:12 pm

Nothronychus was a member of the Coelurosauria, the theropod group of carnivorous dinosaurs that includes carnivores such as Tyrannosaurus. However, more specifically, Nothronychus was a part of the sub-group Maniraptora, which evolved into omnivores and, in the case of Nothronychus and its family, plant-eaters. It was bipedal and walked more upright than its carnivore ancestors. Nothronychus weighed about a tonne, were 4.5–6 m long and stood 3-3.5 m tall.

I love that model, it was the first COLLECTA dino I bought a few years ago and I still like it very very much. Very Happy thank you for the pics Takama Wink

PostSubject: Dracorex Walkaround   CollectA Dinosaur refrence guide - Page 8 EmptyWed Feb 20, 2013 10:28 pm

Basic facts
Dracorex Hagwartsia means Dragon King of Hogwarts, which is the name of a castle in the world famous Harry Potter series of books. The fossil was discovered by three amateur paleontologists from Sioux city Iowa, and was Donated to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum for research. It is here that the name was given to help reflect the children who visit the place. However, paleontologist Jack Horner, thinks that Dracorex could be the juvenile form of a pre discovered dinosaur (Stygmoloch or Pachycephalasaurus are the supposed dinosaurs)., which would make the heavily inspired name invalid.

PostSubject: Triceratops Deluxe and Standard sized Walkarounds   CollectA Dinosaur refrence guide - Page 8 EmptyWed Feb 20, 2013 11:32 pm

Basic Facts
The Famous Three Horn Face, is the most common Ceratopsian dinosaur to appear in anything dinosaur related, from movies, to comics, to video games, and random toys everywhere. Unlike alot of other Advanced Ceratopsians, Triceratops has a solid frill on its skull. The frills of Ceratopsians were likly used for desplay, and were highly colored. Is most common enemy was Tyrannosaurus rex, and this was backed by the fact that some Triceratops bones have puncture marks from were a T-Rex has bitten.

Thank you for showing Takama Very Happy

Looking at all your walkarounds, I was asking myself how many sculptors are working for the dinosaur line. They are so many different styles... maybe Numaan could help ?

The Deluxe one is a huge citizen cyclops

COLLECTA was the first company which made a Dracorex and it was a very good choice.

I was thinking about buying one but was so lazy that I didn't. then SAFARI Ltd made his Dracorex and I bought the SAFARI LTd Wink

PostSubject: Muttaburasaurus Walkaround   CollectA Dinosaur refrence guide - Page 8 EmptyFri Feb 22, 2013 12:03 am

Basic Facts
Muttaburasaurus was an Australian iguanodont that had a large bump on its nose. The bump could have been used as a resonating device too call out  mates, or generally communicate with the herd. Although it was an iguanodont, It probably did not poses a thumb spike like its famous relative Iguanodon. Its Most common enemies would be Australovenator, and the Australian Allosaurus species. One interesting thing about this dinosaur is that its teeth were made more for shearing up food, while most other Herbivores had to grind there food, This has made some scientists think that Muttaburasaurus was a Omnivore, that ate up tough plants, and scavenged corpses.

PostSubject: Agustinia Standerd and Deluxe walkaround   CollectA Dinosaur refrence guide - Page 8 EmptyFri Feb 22, 2013 6:41 am

Basic Facts
Some Sauropod’s are known to poses armor thats usually in the form of flatted plates,  but Augustinia's armor makes it one of the most bizarre dinosaurs to be found so far, as it has large spikes and plates that armored its body like a stegosaur. The only thing is, Scientists are not quite sure how the armor appears on its back, (these figures are just a sculptors assumption).

UPDATE January/3 /2014
Recent study's of the fragmentary material have shown that the supposed Spikes on the dinosaurs back, were actually just rib and hip bones. This would make these models from CollectA Outdated
