I like the brown, it makes it look like he was taking a mud bath. You should leave the brown on, it looks really neat!

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have painted the model and it is almost done, I just need to seal it with fixative then add some tail hairs.
After some thought I've decided not to make moulds of this particular figure because the ears are set against the body and would make moulding difficult.
In the future I should make the ears separate if I want to make moulds, this will make casting much easier.

Here is how it looks now.

Forest elephants have more golden coloured ivory than the savannah species, the tusks are also more dirty I've noticed.

That looks great, elephas! The anatomy/proportions look downright real, and the pose and the skin texture are really, really excellent!
Your elephants are always some of the most realistic looking sculpts I've ever seen.

Andreas, I was thinking of maybe sculpting a Pygmy hippo or some species of rhino.
