| Thanks for showing some more interesting French figurines. Their style is irreplicable! Look at this American bison and also the Indian rhino! Even more charming is the bird. Really love these figurines. - Kikimalou wrote:

I guess if a manufacturer produce this nowadays, it would be soon under arrest Clearly not a human child, Christophe - time to see the optometrist... No need of an optometrist Phil, I had Jim Crocs with African boys in the past. I sold them... For a lot of money. No need to collect that

| Congratulation I have the panther too and I don't know the brand. The second Indian rhino, the one on the right, is a Clairet |

| Wait, what is the "plastic disease?" Sorry if I'm bringing up an old topic but I'm curious to know what exactly that is, does, and if it could happen to the modern animals or if its only the older brands because of their plastic? Again sorry if this is bringing up an old topic. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | At first, The cellulose acetate frees a smell of vinegar, becomes sticky. Then the figure becomes smaller and breakable. It is the same for the nitrate of cellulose, but it is an acid smell. The Clairet are frequently sick, Starlux too. (acetate or nitrate). Flexible plastics as Timpo, Reamsa, become breakable as glass. The styren like Elastolin is stable, resistant, be careful contact deasese Chemical reaction of two material in contact We don't know how are going to react modern plastics in time. |

| Hmm... that is scary enough for me. Thank you for the information. Hopefully the plastics of today will not do this, but who knows? Again, thank you for the information. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. We don't know how are going to react modern plastics in time. Thank you Thierry for posting this valuable information and photos about the plastic disease. Do you know how long it usually takes for a figure to fall apart after the first signs of the disease show? I know some start to leak liquid or look powdery at the beginning but how long before the figure starts to melt and break down noticeably? |

Thank you, it is a too bad that these wonderful figures have a limited life span. I really enjoy the art deco style sculpting of the old French models. |
