The jaguar is a leopard, not easy indeed of identifying in old Schleich versions. I am glad you enjoy them.

 Whoops, fixed it. You know, their older leopard and jaguar both look so very similar I do get them mixed up. I hope my new guy doesn't hate me now... And the reddish color is coming from how much orange and brown is in that picture plus my lighting is terrible right now, I will fix it tomorrow morning and replace it with another pic.

Paige, you don't have to fix the picture. I am Crocobert, the worst photographer of STS.
Most people that collect old Schleich mix leopards with jaguars, that is a curious thing I learned on forum. They're really similar in old versions. Even Schleich mixed them in one catalogue and in my opinion they're not sure about their new black panther.

Schleich new black panther is clearly a black leopard, so it shouldn't be in American section of 2013 catalogue. Unless it is a very bad black jaguar but I doubt. So, again Schleich is mistaking leopards with jaguars.

 I've never noticed that but it is true. Hmm... once again Schleich needs to do their homework. And as far as the old leopards/jaguars go, honestly the Jaguar that was released aroundt the same time as this one looks exactly like the same species, very similar, few differences.

Just finished watching my neighbors dog for the weekend holiday, and I just spent my money from that on some new figures.  Going to update soon hopefully.  

Ok, my package finally arrived with a small load of goodies! However the lighting here is bad (its already pitch black outside) so I will have to take pics after school tomorrow.

Hey, I don't get to tease very often.

I had to replace my shepherd after my infant nephew broke his staff, and this new version has a fancy twisty hand instead of the staff being shoved through the hole his hand made before. Not to mention he is flanked by two very intimidating guard dogs (which happen to be some of my favorite species after North American gray wolves  )...  I love the waterbuck and the red hog, though the pig was a bit heavier than I thought he should be, but I guess he is just well fed.  I had to get the bear cub, since its retired, it was only about 1.99$ and I had his dad, so now he cuddles against his daddy's legs for comfort amongst all his bigger cousins. Other than the zebus I got Susanne recently, these are my first official CollectA models, I have a few from procon though. Enjoy.
And yes, I noticed there are a lot of smilies in this post but I'm very happy right now.

Those are great representatives from these last fabulous CollectA years. Striped hyena is not a dog but surely can work like a guard dog in your wild farm. I see also a pig and a bull! I think your pig as more meat to give than bull.
The little bear is surely the plush toy of shepherd's daughter.

I know they aren't considered dogs, but he thinks he is one, and look at his face! Who would argue?   And of course, thank you Roger.

They're so scary for a croc! Actually, although maned wolves are dogs, I agree that striped hyena can perform a better work than a guard dog than maned wolf. Maned wolves look fragile creatures although it doesn't mean anything. African wild dogs look also very delicate and they are really efficient hunters. But I am sure that the best guard dog in America is a grizzly!

A grizzly would be a good guard, they have lots of attitude. Though they would probably eat he livestock before hey guarded it. So for NA I would have to say wolves would be best, sine they "fathered" modern gaurd dogs.

Fantastic additions Paige!! Congratulations! These are some of my all-time favorite CollectAs. The striped hyena and the waterbuck in particular are some of my very favorite of any figure, any company, ever. EVER.
