| Schleich: - Elephants, I don't like the heavy wrinkles they but in the skin. Maybe the female, but on the other hand I don't need more elephants in my collection. - Cheetahs, I don't know what happened to the face of the baby cheetah, but it looks horrible o.0 The mother looks nice, hope she will be also in RL. - Gemsbok, the head looks huge in the photo, I hope it will be oke in RL o.0 - Giraffes, the thickness of the neck from the male is to thick for my taste. And like the elephants I don't need other Schleich giraffes. _________________ ~Karin~

| The elephants are better than the previous batch, the heads are less big and I'm happy to see that, even if I have enough elephants for now. The cheetah pose is interresting and maybe it will be a good surprise... The giraffes are definitevely too shortlegged to please me. I can't wait to see the gemsbok in real because I can't ignore a new antelope I suppose I will go for the pangolin, my Mojo one need a friend |

| Thanks for posting the images Christophe, I wasn't aware of the new Schleich elephants.
They are a slight improvement over the previous models but they still look pretty bad. The bull looks like a cow with a narrow face (which should be wider), the eyes are too close, the ears are the wrong shape and the body should be more massive on the front quarters. The cow is not too bad, better proportioned but still doesn't look right. The calf looks weird and overall the texturing on these models is too pronounced.
Its too bad Schleich keeps updating their elephants all these years but still haven't gotten them right anatomically.
Also the bull giraffe's head and neck are too large for the body. |

Also the bull giraffe's head and neck are too large for the body. I guess the elephants and giraffes odd proportions are a consequence of Schleich choices. If those animals were better shaped, the scale differences with the lions or antelopes would jump out! Too bad because giraffes are far to be as good as the beautiful [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. Even the old Safari Ltd and Papo elephants are still better and they are 10 year old. - donny ong wrote:

I hope so even is big heads are a Schleich speciality - Kristie wrote:

I hope the Gemsbok will be not too thick and less big headed, last year I found some very interresting models so why not? You are right, the giraffesare cute but I can't stop looking at the bull. It seems there is three animals on that one: Legs, body and head+neck are not in the same scales. |

| That gemsbock is clearly reissued from previous mold. There are some differences but we see the same mistakes. The head is too wide to support these massive horns, as I commented with previous figure, that's the head of a farm cow not of an antelope. In picture below you can see that head/snouth are narrower. I also always found strange these ears: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], giraffe calf is particulary cute, I agree. | While all of these are certainly nice I have to wonder, why did Schleich focus almost entirely on Africa this year? Unless maybe they will focus on other continents in future years. |

| That's a good question, are all Schleich Wild Life figures presented? I suspect the flamingo will also belong to Africa collection. Considering the good surprises this year, I wished Schleich had some more figures to present. |

Yes, and for Africa it has to be a greater flamingo. The black of the bill is not enough for a lesser flamingo. Greater flamingos and Chilean flamingos were considered conspecific for a long time, the few differences are that the Chilean has more black on the bill and legs are greyish instead of pink. If these are all African we want more Schleich 2016 releases! |
